Back in the ‘70s and ‘80s, a young Kapoor had stolen our hearts with his Zinda Dil performances and everyone was a fan of his on-screen presence and dance moves. While we completely swooned over Rishi Kapoor’s dance moves in that era, his wife, Neetu Kapoor believed he was the worst dancer. Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor had starred together in a lot of films like Jhoota Kahin Ka, Rafoo Chakkar, Zinda Dil, Khel Khel Mein, Kabhie Kabhie, Amar Akbar Anthony, Doosra Aadmi, Do Dooni Chaar, Besharam and a lot more. Neetu Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor had made their acting debut as child artists and it was in the year 1973, both their first films as lead actors had released. It’s been almost a year since Rishi Kapoor left for the heavenly abode and no day passes by when his family including his wife, Neetu Kapoor and their children, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor doesn’t miss him. Neetu ji, time and again, shares priceless memories with Rishi ji on her Instagram handle and what would have been their 41st wedding anniversary was no different. On January 22, 2021, Neetu ji had posted a video, comprising of her beautiful memories off-screen and on-screen with Rishi ji and the song, Hum Hain Is Pal Yahan from the film, Kisna: The Warrior Poet playing in the background. She had captioned the post as “Justtt. Would have been our 41 years today”, followed by a heartbroken emoji.
Neetu Kapoor came as a special guest on Indian Idol 12 and the episode will be aired this weekend. With the promos of the episode, it is evident that it is going to be a special one as everyone will celebrate late Rishi Kapoor, his work and Mrs Kapoor will share some anecdotes of their lives. In one of the promos, Neetu ji got emotional as her children, Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni recorded heartfelt messages for her. Neetu ji also performed on-stage after ages on the song, Ek Main Aur Ek Tu from the film, Khel Khel Mein. When the host of the show, Aditya Narayan called Rishi Kapoor one of the best dancers, Neetu Kapoor clarified that he was not. She said that his expressions and handwork was so impressive that no one noticed his worst footwork in the songs.
Prior to his demise in 2020, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor were in New York for his treatment and to mark his eleventh prayer meet on March 25, 2021, she had posted a priceless memory from their last NYC trip. In the video, Rishi ji was happily crooning the song, Jaanejaan Aa Aa Aah, as the couple enjoyed the view of NYC with the Brooklyn Bridge lit up in the backdrop and it had made everyone emotional. Neetu ji had captioned the video as "Since today is Rishiji’s 11 month prayer meet felt like sharing some moments from our last trip to NYC." Riddhima Kapoor Sahni had posted a family picture with her parents, Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, brother, Ranbir Kapoor and daughter, Samara Sahni. She had captioned it as “Your love will light our way- Your memory will forever be with us! Always in our hearts.” Riddhima had also posted a picture with Ranbir, performing puja at their Mumbai residence. She had captioned the picture as “Always watching over us! We miss you.”
The year 2020 was extremely difficult and heartbreaking for the Kapoor clan as in April, Rishi Kapoor had taken his last breath after fighting a long battle with leukaemia. Since then, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Ranbir Kapoor have been pillars of strength for their mother, Neetu Kapoor. Riddhima had even stayed in Mumbai for a few months with her daughter, Samara Sahni to be with her mother. A few days after the demise of her father, Riddhima had posted a throwback selfie with Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir on her IG story and had written, “Got your back Ma #yourpillars” atop it.
