From doing dance reality shows with a partner (which didn’t work out) to NDTV Imagine channel hosting an entire swayamvar for this Main Hoon Na heroine, looks like nothing could find Rakhi the man of her dreams, until she went on Colors TV’s hit reality show, India’s Got Talent! Therein, she bumped into her ‘probable’ prince and is all set to get married in a destination wedding on December 31, 2018!
Rakhi posted her wedding invitation, which had the words, “Together with their families Deepak Kalal weds Rakhi Sawant. Two loving hearts are getting united and making a promise to be in love forever!” written in it. If the post is to be believed, Rakhi is getting married on December 31, 2018 at 5.55pm, in Los Angeles! Sharing the invitation, Rakhi wrote, “Please everyone have to come shadi ke leeye don’t bring anye gifts please.” Here’s the picture:
What people thought that it was maybe another ‘publicity stunt’ for Rakhi, the entertainment ki dukaan confirmed the news of her wedding with The Indian Express and said, “Yes, it’s true we are getting married. Everyone in the industry is tying the knot and I felt it was the right time for me to get married too. Deepak proposed me on national television on India’s Got Talent and I decided to say yes. We have just finalised the date and will now start preparing for the functions. I will keep updating my fans about everything through social media. For now, we all need your blessings and love for our conjugal life.” As per a TOI report, Rakhi also added, “I am going to invite everyone from Bollywood but I don't know who will come. In a 2009 throwback interview with Open magazine, when Rakhi had chosen Elesh Parujanwala as her partner from the swayamvar and her marriage was almost fixed to him, she got all candid (as always) about her marriage plans. Sharing how she imagines her married life to look like, she had then stated, “Just like any girl who is getting married, I wish for a happy married life with a husband and family who will love me for what I am. I will do my best to make my husband and his family very happy.” Will she bring about any change in her life post-marriage? The Masti star had revealed, “I will not change my personality because this is who I am. Elesh likes me that way. Well, once I get married, I would like to balance my work and home so that I can enjoy every minute with him.”
Further speaking about her celebrity status causing a rift in her then ‘almost’ marital relationship, Rakhi had shared, “I don’t think so. Elesh is very mature and understands me completely. Elesh has married Rakhi Sawant, not Rakhi Sawant the celebrity. So, I don’t think that this will cause any unhappiness in our relationship. There are so many examples in the glamour world where one is a celebrity and the other is not and they are still happy, like Sachin and Anjali Tendulkar, Madhuri Dixit and Dr Nene to name a few.”
Elesh and Rakhi broke soon after everything was almost finalised for their wedding. The duo had even appeared in a reality show, Pati Patni Aur Wo. Elesh, on the other hand, is now a happily man married. In a 2010 throwback interview with TellyChakkar, Elesh revealed it all! Sharing details about their breakup, the Canada-based businessman shared, “I too have seen Rakhi's interviews on various channels and shows. They made me laugh. I must admit she is extremely creative! She’s come up with more than 10 reasons why the split happened, so which one is it? About getting mistreated by Rakhi on the sets of Pati Patni Aur Wo, Elesh had shared, “As I mentioned earlier, this was an image changing exercise for Rakhi, and nothing more. If she really had the intention to get married, she would have never mistreated me the way she did on the sets of Pati Patni Aur Woh. In fact my producers came up to me and told me how they couldn’t stand Rakhi ill-treating me. How could I even respond to that? She was my fiancée at the time. I smiled and said, ‘I have a lot of patience.’”
