Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleVeteran actor Rajesh Sharma is gradually recovering from a health scare after a suspected poisonous insect bite triggered a severe infection, and he had to be hospitalised. He reportedly sustained the bite during the shoot of Prabhas' upcoming film, Fauzi, in Hyderabad.
The actor's health had sparked further concern after some reports claimed he developed blood clots and the infection was spreading into his lungs. His team and family have now shared a more reassuring update, saying his condition has improved over the past two days, though he is not completely out of danger yet.
Rajesh Sharma's latest health update
Actress and family friend Sudipa Chatterjee recently shared a health update with Hindustan Times, saying Sharma is "a little better now," though doctors are still conducting tests to determine what exactly caused the infection. She told the publication:
"He's a little better now. It's an unknown insect bite, and tests are being done, and his condition is being monitored. So treatment is on, and the last two days he is much better."
Rajesh Sharma's assistant also addressed several unverified reports circulating online that claimed the infection had spread to his lungs and that he had a blood clot. His team clarified that while the infection remains in his leg, it has not spread to his lungs. His assistant said:
"Rajesh ji is better... I am with him 24X7 and aisa kuch nahin hain. The infection is still in his leg, and he is getting better. I read somewhere that the infection has reached his lungs and that is not true. In another two-three days he will be fine, as per his doctors."

Regarding what exactly happened to the actor, Sudipa Chatterjee noted that Rajesh was shooting for a Prabhas film at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City when he felt what initially seemed like a minor insect bite. Believing it to be harmless, he ignored it and continued working. However, he soon developed a fever and decided to return to Kolkata earlier than planned.
After reaching home, the actor's condition only worsened. After experiencing severe pain in his right leg, he developed large blisters. Being diabetic, his blood sugar level had spiked, reportedly crossing 400. He was then admitted to Manipal Hospital in Dhakuria, Kolkata. He has remained under critical care.
Earlier medical updates suggested doctors suspected the bite may have come from a poisonous spider or another venomous insect after toxins appeared to trigger complications, including a blood clot. At the time, Sharma was reported to be experiencing breathlessness, restlessness and episodes of delirium while doctors monitored his condition closely.
As of his current medical status, the infection has spread from the toes up to the knee, with large blisters. The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 actor still faces high fever and breathing difficulties, and he remains in critical care with constant monitoring for blood clots. His condition could be life-threatening if the infection reaches the lungs. Some reports suggest Sharma's complications may be linked to his diabetic condition rather than the insect bite, but these claims remain unverified.
AICWA seeks investigation
Following the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) called for an investigation into the safety conditions on the film set. The workers' body urged Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to order a high-level probe, demanded that the film's producers cover Sharma's medical expenses, and sought strict action if any safety lapses are established.
