Raghav Chadha's Journey Into Politics As He Leaves AAP And Joins BJP, After He Was Kicked Out

Raghav Chadha, a starry name in Indian politics, was known for discussing issues which no other Rajya Sabha member was interested in. From talking about paternity leave to menstrual health, Raghav left no opportunity to discuss the less acknowledged topics. He was praised for his way of working. However, not many know that Raghav's journey into politics was driven by courage and not fame.

Why Raghav Chadha left the Aam Aadmi Party for the BJP after he was kicked out as the Rajya Sabha's deputy leader?

Raghav Chadha had an open rift with the Aam Aadmi Party as he was fired from his role as the Rajya Sabha's deputy leader. He left the party on April 24, 2026. Not just he, but six other Rajya MPs also signed their resignations to join the BJP. Raghav Chadha, who was once hailed as the youngest Rajya Sabha member, has been going through the lowest phase. It all started after the Aam Aadmi Party removed him as its deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha. A post he has been on since 2023. As per reports, he has been replaced by Punjab's MP Ashok Mittal.

In a press conference with Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, Raghav Chadha shared the reason for leaving Arvind Kejriwal's AAP. He stated that the party to which he gave his 15 years of youth has deviated from its values and core morals. He added that the party does not work in the interest of the nation but for its personal benefits. Raghav openly bashed AAP, and stated that he thinks he is the right man in the wrong party. So, he is trying to distance himself from the AAP and get closer to the public. He was quoted as saying:

"The AAP, which I nurtured with my blood and sweat, and gave 15 years of my youth to, has deviated from its principles, values and core morals." He added, "Now this party does not work in the interest of the nation but for its personal benefits...For the past few years, I could feel that I am the right man in the wrong party. So, today, we announce that I am distancing myself from the AAP and getting close to public."

It is worth mentioning that Raghav Chadha revealed that besides him, Rajya Sabha MPs Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal have also quit the Aam Aadmi Party and have signed to be part of the BJP. Along with Harbhajan Singh, Rajinder Gupta, Vikram Sahney, and Swati Maliwal will also join the BJP.
