R Madhavan's Wife, Sarita And Son, Vedaant Cheers For Him As He Recieves Padma Shri Award

R Madhavan received one of the highest honours, the Padma Shri Award, at the Civil Investiture Ceremony-II, Rashtrapati Bhavan. The celebratory event was attended by R Madhavan's wife, Sarita  Birje Madhavan and her son, Vendaant Madhavan. He received the award from the president, Droupadi Murmu. 

R Madhavan received the Padma Shri Award 

On June 23, 2026, R Madhavan received the Padma Shri Award in the presence of PM Narendra Modi by the president, Droupadi Murmu. When his name was announced, R Madhavan, who looked handsome in his blue-hued bandhgala suit, walked up to PM Narendra Modi, who was sitting with other dignitaries in the front row, and shook hands. The two exchanged some laughs, and then R Madhavan walked up to President Droupadi Murmu, who presented him the Padma Shri. Madhavan's family also stood there and clapped the loudest for his success. 

For those who don't know, Madhavan's name was announced as the recipient of the Padma Shri, the highest civilian honour, for his contribution to Indian cinema by the Ministry of Home Affairs on the evening of Republic Day 2026. He was among the 75 recipients of the Padma Awards. 

When Madhavan found out that he had been honoured with one of the highest honorary awards in India, he expressed his gratitude. He shared that he accepted the Padma Shri Award with a lot of gratitude and humility. He revealed that he never thought of receiving the highest award in his wildest dream. He stated that he would be receiving the award on behalf of his entire family, who constantly support him and have faith in his work. R Madhavan stated that their belief in him made it possible. He wrote:

"I accept the Padma Shri with profound gratitude and humility. This honour, bestowed upon me, is beyond my wildest dreams, and I receive it on behalf of my entire family, whose constant support and faith have been my greatest strength. This recognition is possible only because of the blessings of my mentors, the goodwill of my well-wishers, the love and encouragement of the public, and above all, the grace of the Almighty. Each of them has played an invaluable role in shaping my journey and guiding me toward this moment."

R Madhavan further stated that it wasn't just an award but a responsibility and promised to carry the honour with dignity and sincerity. He stated that his heart is filled with a lot of gratitude. For those who don't know, R Madhavan is known for his work in Hindi and Tamil cinemas. He made his debut with Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein. He concluded his post by writing:

"I consider this not just an award, but a responsibility. I promise to carry this honour with dignity, sincerity, and a deep sense of commitment to the values it represents. My heart is filled with gratitude for this extraordinary endorsement and validation, and I hope to continue serving with integrity, humility, and dedication in the years to come."

For those who don't know, R Madhavan is married to Sarita Birje. She was her student, and one day, out of the blue, she asked him out on a date. He revealed that he was a dark man and thought it was the perfect opportunity, but little did he know that he would end up getting married to her. He said:

"Sarita (my wife) was my student and she asked me out on a date one day. I was a dark man and thought it was an opportunity. Didn't know if I would ever get married so I grabbed on to the opportunity and married her."
