It was a simple and powerful quote, which read, "No matter what the outcome is, I'm going to attempt greatness." Soon, the post went viral across social media. Many supporters shared screenshots of the message. Some fans shared heart emojis on it, and one internet user even wrote, "Love you forever, my son." 

Since the Instagram story was shared after Quévin's death, it is unclear who posted it. Some fans believe a family member may have uploaded it, while others speculate that a close friend, teammate, or someone managing his social media handle may have shared the quote as a tribute. Still, it made fans emotional, who were struggling to process Quévin's sudden loss. 

Although there is no official explanation for Quévin's latest Instagram story, it has become one of the most widely shared tributes to the midfielder's death. Alongside, his final permanent Instagram post has also become a subject of remembrance.

The late footballer shared his final post on July 30, 2026. It included some random scenic images and selfies from a beach in Portugal. Quévin shared the photos without any words in the caption. Instead, he simply accompanied the carousel with only a Portuguese flag emoji. It has now become his final post after his death.

Since the news of his passing surfaced, supporters had returned to the comments section to share messages of condolence and gratitude. Some even shared the memories of watching him play, while others expressed disbelief. One fan wrote, "Rest in heavenly peace, until we see you again, brother." Another fan penned, "Just heard the news. R.I.P Quévin. Once a Baggie, always a Baggie."

Meanwhile, many football clubs and organizations have shared their condolences after the midfielder died on the pitch. Real Sports Club, the Portuguese side he represented at the time of his death, expressed its sadness over the loss. At the same time, The Lisbon Football Association called the news "devastating".

Former club West Bromwich Albion said that it was "devastated" by Quévin's death. During their Championship match against Burnley, their players wore black armbands, and supporters marked a minute of applause in the 25th minute to honor the late footballer.

Quévin Castro passed away on August 22, 2026. It happened after he collapsed during a friendly match in Portugal. The footballer was playing for the Real Sport Clube against Estrela da Amadora at Lisbon's Estádio Da Seixas. However, he suddenly fell and lost consciousness around the 10th minute of the match.

Soon, the medical staff from both teams immediately rushed onto the field. They tried to revive him. In fact, emergency responders also used a defibrillator before Quévin was taken to a nearby hospital. Despite the attempts, he was later pronounced dead. Notably, a specific medical cause of his death has not been shared with the public yet.
