According to reports, the decomposed body of the singer was recovered after neighbours reportedly noticed a foul smell and alerted the police. Baljit’s body was reportedly found lying on a bed inside the house. While the initial police investigation pointed towards murder, the postmortem report stated otherwise. He was reportedly missing for the past four to five days.
What caused Baljit Singh's death?
According to a report by TOI, Baljit Singh died of a heart attack. Sudhar police station SHO Kulwinder Singh, who reached Baljit’s home in Sudhar Patti Dhaliwal village in Ludhiana, ruled out any foul play after the postmortem examination. After the examination, the body was handed over to his family. According to reports, the singer’s body was recovered on the morning of September 3, 2026. Reportedly, blood stains were found at several places inside Baljit’s house.
Based on the condition of the body, police suspect that Baljit’s death occurred around four to five days before it was discovered. Police are investigating his death and CCTV footage is being examined. Police officials are also working to establish the singer’s movements during the days he was reportedly missing and identify anyone who may have visited or interacted with him during that period. Given the suspicious nature of the case, teams from the forensic department, dog squad and CIA also reached the spot.
However, family suspects drugs may be connected to Baljit’s untimely death. They shared that Baljit had struggled with substance abuse in recent years. In fact, they believe that Baljit’s struggle with substance abuse impacted his music career. The singer’s relatives said they had seen him near places where drugs were allegedly sold a few days before he disappeared.
Because of Baljit’s not-so-well-known link with drugs and the peddlers, his family wants the police to investigate local drug dealers and find out whether drugs or a fight connected to drug networks had anything to do with his sudden death. The Sudhar police station SHO Kulwinder Singh also said the Punjabi singer and songwriter had previously faced a drug-related case. However, the SHO clarified that Baljit was not addicted to drugs.
Soon after the news of Baljit Singh’s death surfaced online, netizens offered their condolences to his family. A user wrote, "Heartbreaking news. Condolences to his family and friends. Saddening to see someone go like this all alone. Hope the police find out what happened soon. Deeply saddened to hear this news. May his soul rest in peace." Another comment can be read as:

Police from the Sudhar police station arrived at the scene and recovered Baljit’s decomposed body.
