Add BollywoodShaadis on GoogleActress Sydney Sweeney has faced flak for her recent nude photoshoot for Novig, a sports betting site. Following a hate train directed at her, Sydney allegedly hit back by dropping photos of athletes from similar bare-body shoots. Female athletes, their family members, and even her former co-stars called her out for the ad, alleging it promoted the sexualization of female sportspersons.
Amid the intense scrutiny, Sydney Sweeney finally found support from a pro athlete. Golfer Charley Hull defended the actress, saying her job was to make the ads sensual and sellable. Charley slammed the athletes criticizing Sydney, pointing out that they themselves have posted photos in swimwear.
Charley Hull defended Sydney Sweeney against criticism of her nude Novig ad
After weeks of hate train towards Sydney Sweeney for her controversial Novig ads, pro-golfer Charley Hull came to her defense. Charlie told Heavy Sports that the Euphoria actress just did what the job demanded, and that people getting offended by it made no sense. In her words:
"My opinion on the Sydney Sweeney advert? People are generally getting pissed off over an actress/model modeling in an advert. That is quite literally her job. Like, not everything needs a 45-minute psychological breakdown or a public inquiry."

Charlie said, "Sometimes a pretty woman is just a pretty woman in an advert." According to her, "The world will keep spinning," and Sydney will keep moving forward regardless of whether someone likes her work or not. The golfer also mentioned that the actress owns part of that company, probably hinting that she was good where she was and didn't need to pay heed to unnecessary criticism.
Charlie Hull further defended Sydney Sweeney, saying, "she wasn't saying she's an athlete," and thus the allegations that The Housemaid star portrayed women in sports in a negative light didn't hold up, according to Charlie. Calling the hate train "crazy," Charlie didn't hold back in slamming the female athletes who criticized Sydney Sweeney for her nude sports ad.
Charlie Hull slammed athletes criticizing Sydney, pointing out they themselves posted pics in swimwear
Charlie Hull said many female athletes were mad about Sydney Sweeney posing nude in the Novig ad. She then pointed out that most of them have posted swimwear photos on their Instagram pages. Thus, them calling out Sydney for her provocative ad wasn't quite right, according to the 30-year-old golfer. She stated:
"A lot of women was coming out about it, who was athletes, saying that it was putting back women in sports…[by saying] it's [too] revealing. But if you look at half of them women that are complaining about it, you go on their Instagram pages, they're posting in bikinis and stuff."
Charlie added, "If they've got that opinion about Sydney Sweeney, surely they shouldn't be on their Instagram posting in a bikini because they're not an actress/model." The golfer's comments came just a week after MLB outfielder Alex Call joined the public backlash against Sydney Sweeney.

A series of commercials featuring the Christy actress' nude Novig ad campaign has been airing during MLB games lately. It outraged the 32-year-old Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his complaints regarding Sydney's ad.
Alex Call addressed MLB and several major television networks, calling for Sydney Sweeney's Novig commercials to be removed from postseason coverage. He based his argument on the fact that many families watch the games together, and the provocative ads will make them uncomfortable. In his words:
"Can we please get the soft p--n ads off playoff broadcasts, TBS, Fox, NBC, @MLB? My son wants to watch baseball with Dada, but how do I justify that when a half-n---d women could come on screen anytime?? This is America's Pastime. Parents shouldn't have to worry about this."
