Sunjay Kapur's Widow, Priya Sachdev Cannot Sell His Assets, Relief For Karisma Kapoor And Her Kids

Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, has a vast estate that the Delhi High Court has frozen. It was on April 30, 2026, that the Supreme Court intervened in the contentious legal battle related to his Rs. 30,000 crore inheritance. Now, the Delhi High Court has granted interim relief to the kids of Karisma Kapoor- Samaira and Kiaan in relation to the inheritance dispute related to the personal assets of their dad, late businessman, Sunjay Kapur.

Delhi High Court restrains Priya Kapur from dealing with Sunjay Kapur's assets

As per the case, Sunjay and Karisma's kids, Samaira and Kiaan, have alleged that the list intentionally omitted many high-value items. It included a collection of polo horses and luxurious Rolex watches. There were also many precious artwork and also real estate holdings that are of the Kapur family and is a part of the list. Well, the Delhi High Court had restrained Kiaan and Samaira's stepmom, Priya Kapur, from dealing with Sunjay's assets. The court observed that the estate had to be preserved and could not be dissipated when the suit remained pending.

Did Priya Kapur fabricate the will?

A report by Times Now Digital revealed that Justice Jyoti Singh had passed the order while the application was filed by Karisma's kids- Samaira and Kiaan. They had asked for directions to ensure that there was no third party rights created in relation to Sunjay Kapur's assets until a final decision was made by the court in relation to the matter. For the unversed, Sunjay Kapur passed away in London in 2025 at the age of 53. A bitter battle between his third wife, Priya Kapur, and his kids from his earlier marriage to Karisma kicked off. The feud also involved Samaira and Kiaan, the kids of Karisma and Sunjay, along with Rani Kapur, Sunjay's mom, who claimed her rights. Both the kids had accused their stepmom, Priya, of fabricating a will and also submitting an inaccurate inventory related to their dad's holdings.

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's kids claim share as immediate heirs to the property

Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur's kids have been locked in a legal battle with Priya over their personal estates. The kids are claiming their share as Class 1 heirs and asserting rights to one-fifth each of Sunja's movable and immovable assets. Sunjay's mom, Rani, had also questioned the validity of the will that was produced by Priya post his demise. He had died because of a heart attack while playing a polo match in the United Kingdom on June 12, 2025. The court ruled on the fact that assets needed to be protected, preserved and cannot be depleted when the legal validity related to the will has been under scrutiny. The court, based on this, issued an interim injunction that prohibits Sunjay's widow, Priya Sachdev, from disposing of or selling the assets. It has also frozen the bank accounts of Sunjay Kapur.

The court finds suspicion related to the alleged will

The judge presiding over the case noted that Samaira and Kiaan had presented a strong case to warrant protection. The court felt that it would be a complete injustice to allow an estate to be managed based on a potentially fraudulent document. Now, Priya Sachdev has to prove the authenticity of the contested will. Justice Singh had made the observation that the circumstances related to the will looked suspicious, and now the burden has fallen on Priya to remove the suspicions. The court did observe that only after these doubts are cleared will the document shown as Sunjay's will shall be taken as his last will.
