Prashant Tamang's Love Story, Fell In Love With Air Hostess, Last Post For Her, 'We Had Our Ups..'

Indian singer and actor, Prashant Tamang, who worked as a police constable, made his entire Gorkha community proud when he lifted the trophy of Indian Idol 3 in 2007. The singer had no formal training in music, yet he went on to defeat many polished singers in the reality singing show. His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of millions of his fans, but it is his family suffering the most. Recently, Prashant's last post for his wife has gone viral. 

Prashant Tamang's last post for his wife, Geeta Thapa, surfaces

One look at the late singer's Instagram, and you will see it is a diary of his personal life. From sharing adorable glimpses with his daughter to notes for his wife, Geeta Thapa, Prashant believed in expressing his heart out. His last post for his wife, Geeta, was dated December 2, 2025. He shared a picture of his wife, who looked gorgeous in a soft peach-hued top with a leaf pattern. Along with it, he wished her a happy birthday and mentioned how they had their share of ups and downs, but still, they continue to grow in love. He wrote:

"We’ve had our ups and downs, but every day we continue to grow in love. Enjoy your special day to the fullest! Happy birthday Baby."

How did Prashant Tamang fell in love with Geeta Thapa?

Prashant's love story began in 2010 as he met Geeta Thapa during his trip to Dimapur, Nagaland. She was a flight attendant for a prestigious airline, Prashant was flying from. Geeta Thapa, also known as Martha Eli. The two became friends in their first meeting. She hails from Nagaland, and her family is in the Nagaland Police as her father was a sub-inspector, while her mother was a Deputy Inspector General in the LIC.

Prashant Tamang and Geeta Thapa got married in 2011, in Dimapur, Nagaland. However, they kept the wedding extremely secretive, since he was a renowned figure in Nepali cinema. The celebration was attended by close friends, relatives and well-wishers. After the wedding, Prashant announced that he is married and going to settle down in Darjeeling. In 2022, Prashant and Geet welcomed their first child, a baby girl.

Prashant Tamang's death

As per reports, Prashant Tamang passed away on January 11, 2025, at his New Delhi residence. As per family sources, Prashant suffered a cardiact arrest. Raju Bista, who is the Member of Parliament from Darjeeling and National Spokesperson of BJP, expressed his condolences to the family. He recalled his joureny and how he has left he Gorkha community in shock. He said:

"The untimely demise of Prashant Tamang, the popular singer and actor, has left the Gorkha community, along with the entire world of arts and music, stunned and heartbroken. During the Indian Idol competition, he succeeded in instilling a sense of unity and pride not only in the entire Darjeeling hills, Terai, Dooars, Sikkim, and Northeast India, but also among the Gorkha community worldwide."

More about Prashant Tamang

Prashant Tamang was born on January 4, 1983 hailed from Darjeeling in West Bengal. His journey is most inspiring as despite different language, he lifted the trophy of Indian Idol 3. He has worked as a constable with the Kolkata Police. The singer is truly gifted as he didn't had any formal musical training and tried his luck in Indian Idol, which opened doors of success for him. 

After his win, Prashant Tamang's journey in music started, he had released albums in Hindi and Nepali. He has also tried his hands in acting. He has been part of several popular Nepali films such as Gorkha Paltan, Angalo Yo Maya Ko and Nishani. Apart from being part of Nepali films, Prashant is also famous for his intense performance as a sniper in the second season of the acclaimed web series, Paatal Lok.
