Actor and singer, Prashant Tamang passed away on January 11, 2026, leaving the nation in a state of shock. While fans have been flooding social media with tributes ever since his passing, the singer's friend has recalled how happy Prashant was about his comeback. In a conversation with IANS, actor and singer, Meiyang Chang has shared that his best friend for years was looking forward to his upcoming projects.
Talking to IANS, Meiyang Chang revealed that Prashant Tamang was thrilled about getting to work with Salman Khan. For the unversed, he was supposed to star alongside 'Bhaijaan' in Battle of Galwan and was really looking forward to it. He also shared that Prashant was supposed to meet them in Mumbai for a mini get-together. He was quoted as saying:
"His recent work in Paatal Lok Season 2 and the upcoming film with Salman Khan were big milestones in his career. Prashant was extremely happy and excited about this phase. The news came as a huge shock because we were all busy with our work and had planned to meet in Mumbai this week. Prashant had mentioned that he needed to return as some dubbing work was pending for Galwan."

In the same conversation, Meiyang shared that they had been planning to meet for a long time. He shared that Prashant and some of their other friends planned to meet in November 2025 and then again in January 2026. However, unfortunately, the plan never happened. He even reflected on how close their friendship was and stated:
"We had plans to meet that had been discussed for a long time. We had last met in November, and the idea was to meet again in January, but that never happened. He was also shooting with Salman Khan, which made the news even more difficult to process. At just 43, he was far too young to leave us. We shared a long and deep friendship, and we cared for each other deeply."

In the same conversation, Meiyang Chang shared that he had just returned from Prashant Tamang's funeral. The actor revealed that they were in Darjeeling for the last rights and many of their batchmates showed up to pay their last respects. The actor added that now his only concern was the well-being of his late friend's wife and daughter. He was quoted as saying
"Right now, my only wish is strength for his family. His wife and daughter mean a lot to us, and we will try our best to support them in every possible way. This was truly not the time for him to go. It is a huge loss. What makes it even more painful is that this phase marked his strong return to the mainstream. He had done Indian Idol 20 years ago, worked on many shows, travelled extensively, and acted in Nepali films."

In the same conversation, Meiyang also recalled talking to Prashant during the audition process for Pataal Lok. He shared that the late singer would ask him innocent questions, which "reflected his nature". Meiyang further added that Prashant was a "very kind, gentle, and respectful person, and even after gaining recognition, he treated everyone equally, whether a big actor or a newcomer." The singer concluded by expressing his pride in Prashant, and admitted that he would've had a "long and bright journey ahead as an actor", which unfortunately ended too soon.
