Ever since the phenomenal success of the SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus, Baahubali, everyone is in awe of the sizzling chemistry between the protagonists of the film, Amarendra Baahubali and Devsena a.k.a. Prabhas and Anushka Shetty respectively. Their on-screen romance has fueled up their off-screen relationship status, which makes their fans get delighted with any news about their link-up, rumours of engagement and speculations about their impending wedding. However, Prabhas and Anushka have always remained tight-lipped about their alleged relationship status. Recently, the reports were doing the rounds that Anushka’s parents are searching for Mr Right for their daughter and they are also visiting temples to perform rituals for their daughter’s marriage plans. As per a report in Pinkvilla, Anushka earlier denied the rumours of her relationship with Prabhas.
Anushka was quoted as saying, "We are just very good friends. And there’s nothing between Prabhas and me except friendship. We are definitely not getting married." She further shared, “We are very good friends. But we aren’t getting married. I am in no hurry to settle down.” And now, finally, Prabhas has come out in open to speak about their wedding rumours.
In an interview with ET, Prabhas said, “It’s my private matter and I don’t want to reveal anything.” Prabhas further shared that whenever he will decide to get engaged, he will inform the media. Earlier the reports also suggested that Prabhas and Anushka are already engaged, but the Telugu superstar stated to a media portal, “I do not want to reveal my private life. Many people ask me if I have affairs and the issue of marriage crops up invariably. But, these people should understand me. Don’t ask me about my marriage. It looks very superficial. I want my life to be private. But, when I marry, I shall tell everyone about it.”
When Anushka was asked about her marriage plans, she informed the media, “I totally believe in marriage, but I want to get married and have children at the right time and when I meet someone who connects with me. I like children very much but I don’t want to marry out of compulsion.” She went on to say, “When I was 20, they started telling me to get married! But it has to come at the right time and they know the person that I am. In another interview, Anushka admitted, "Prabhas and I are not getting married. Please do not expect Baahubali and Devasena like chemistry in real life. It is only for the screen." As per Cinestaan, she was quoted as saying, "There is no truth in rumours doing the rounds that my parents are compelling me to get married. First, we have to find a good person. If I like him, then, the wedding will take place. I will invite friends, family, fans and well-wishers and will get married before them with their blessings."
Prabhas hails from a conservative family who does not believe in love marriages, so even if Prabhas and Anushka wanted to take their friendship to another level, they could not. A close friend of Prabhas’ family once shared in an interview, “There is a very strong friendship. But both of them have never allowed that friendship to grow into anything deeper because they know there is no future for them. Prabhas’ family won’t allow it. He will never go against his father and uncle’s will. He will have an arranged marriage.”
Prabhas opened up about his friendship with Anushka, and remarked, "When we first worked together we had decided that at no cost we would allow rumours of our linkup float around. We have been film friends for nine years now. We are very good friends. We have known each other for years but I admit sometimes when such stories start doing the rounds, then I too start wondering if there is, indeed, something between us." On the work front, Prabhas has a big budget film, Saaho in his kitty, which also marks the debut of Bollywood stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Shraddha Kapoor in Telugu arena. And Anushka is working on a Telugu film titled Silence.
