Planning A Museum Wedding

You know what is the best part about getting married in a Museum? You can sense the glorious harmony between the past, present and the future right before your eyes, in the artifices on display and wish for the same sereneness and harmony to envelope your marital life when you have taken the vows.

If you have decided to say, “I do” in a museum, then there are a few things you must keep in mind while planning the wedding. A museum wedding or a reception is not entirely unconventional; however, the fact that it is off the usual league calls for special arrangements to be looked into.

Select a museum

Select the museum that will be perfect for the wedding, reception or both. The selection criteria will include the seating capacity, museum rentals, availability and the degree of restrictions. Some committees overlooking the museum management only allow access to a couple of halls or facilities inside the museum, restricting access to the others. One major benefit of carrying out reception or wedding ceremonies in such a place is to allow your guests to enjoy the historical artifacts exhibited there.

Also, once you finalize the venue, make it a point to visit the place during the time of the day you are planning to hold the ceremony there, day or night.

Arrange everything well and follow the rules

1) Meet the events coordinator of the Museum and understand all the policies of the museum, the rentals, the decoration and other aspects. Find out if the museum provides catering facility or grants the catering contracts to specific caterers.

2) A good idea would be to introduce your wedding planner, if you have appointed one, to the events coordinator so that the planner understands everything well.

3) Take a detailed map of the Museum from the office, if allowed. Usually the Museums do not allow the maps to be used externally on account of security issues.

4) Additionally, inform the museum event coordinator about the number of guests so that they can make the adequate security arrangements.

5) Arrange for special souvenirs from the museum to give them away as wedding favors.

6) Allow the photographer to survey the museum and understand the parts that are not allowed to be photographed.

7) Design your wedding invitations keeping in theme with the Museum wedding and take care of other little nuances that will make your wedding a memorably romantic affair.
