Now, in a new update, it has been revealed that Perez’s move to Miami might have a connection with his self-harming incident.
Perez Hilton was emotionally struggling after his move to Miami
Perez Hilton was previously living in Las Vegas. However, he decided to move to Miami because of his family. While this was a major life change for Perez, it reportedly took an emotional toll on the gossip blogger before his shocking livestream that resulted in his hospitalization.
Sources close to Perez revealed to TMZ that his decision to move to Miami was primarily because of his mother, Teresita. At her old age, his mom was not happy living in Vegas. Perez believed that moving to Miami would make her happy, as she also had family living there.
Reportedly, he began prioritizing his family more than ever following his near-death experience in March 2026. At that time, Perez had spent 21 days in the hospital when a severe case of the flu led to a medical crisis. The blogger had previously admitted that he continued taking medication on an empty stomach, leading to a gastric ulcer that perforated his stomach.
In a video that Perez posted on social media on March 23, 2026, Perez claimed that it was his own stupidity that landed him in the hospital. He wrote in the caption:
“My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days! This is the most important video I've ever shared. | What a saga! Perez Hilton recounts why he ended up in the hospital for 21 days, shares the mistakes he made and reveals the lessons learned. This has been the worst and best experience of his life. According to the blogger, he described what a transformative experience it was. Perez called the medical emergency a “life-changing wake-up call.”
Since the incident, Perez, who is a devoted father and thoughtful son, has been trying to do what is best for his family. So when Perez put his mom’s needs above his own by moving to Miami, he did not initially anticipate how difficult the transition would be.
While he was still living in Vegas, he had built a comfortable life and successful career as an influencer. Perez’s kids were also settled in a school there. The sources told the news outlet that Perez began missing the life he had established in Vegas and was struggling to adjust to Miami.
For instance, Perez was having trouble not only establishing a new home in Miami but also rebuilding his career. These things led Perez to second-guess the move. Additionally, Perez’s livestream was even more shocking when we consider that the sources revealed he is very health-conscious and does not drink or use drugs.
Perez Hilton previously revealed he was “excited” to start a new life in Miami
Just weeks before his alarming TikTok livestream, Perez had shared his first video where he opened up about relocating to Miami with his mother and three children. He claimed that it had been years since he last lived in Miami but was excited about their future there. He shared:
"Hello world. It is Perez, the queen of all media, the original influencer, and I'm back home. My children, mother, and I are now residents of Miami, Florida. And I have not lived here since I was 18 years old. I'm so excited for this new chapter in our lives.”
