For the past few months, music composer Palaash Muchhal and cricketer, Smriti Mandhana grabbed the limelight after their wedding was abruptly cancelled. The duo dated for five long years before they decided to get married in November 2025. The wedding didn’t take place, and within two weeks, both Smriti and Palaash called it off.
There were various rumours about Smriti Mandhana and Palaash Muchhal’s cancelled wedding. Amid the rumours, Smriti gradually shifted her focus to cricket, and now, Palaash, too, is resuming his work. According to the latest reports, Palaash, who had earlier taken a break from work, has resumed his professional commitments and is making a comeback to the director’s chair with his new film.

As per trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, Palaash is all set to direct his new film, which will also star Shreyas Talpade in the lead role. It will be Palaash’s third film as a director. Announcing the same, Taran tweeted:
“SHREYAS TALPADE TO STAR IN PALASH MUCHHAL'S NEXT FILM... #ShreyasTalpade will head the cast of director #PalashMuchhal's upcoming, as-yet-untitled film, stepping into the role of a common man. Set against the backdrop of #Mumbai, filming is expected to commence soon.”

Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana were all set to get married on November 23, 2025. However, on the day of the wedding, reports claimed that the wedding was postponed due to Smriti's father, who had suffered a medical emergency. A day later, it was reported that Palaash was hospitalised due to wedding-related stress. Amid the fiasco, several reports stated that Palaash had allegedly cheated on Smriti.

Finally, Smriti shut all the noise by announcing that her wedding with Palaash has been called off. Soon after Smriti called off her wedding with the latter, he released an official statement confirming the same and also opened up about the cheating allegations. “I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. Its been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something which has been most sacred to me. It’s the most difficult phase of my life and I will deal with it gracefully holding on to my beliefs."
Palaash made his directorial debut in 2022 with the film, Ardh, which starred Rajpal Yadav and Rubina Dilaik. He later collaborated again with Rajpal in 2024 for the film, Kaam Chalu Hai, a film inspired by the real-life story of Manoj Patil. Over the years, Palaash has also helmed several music videos, which featured popular faces like Rashami Desai and Natasa Stankovic.
