From donning famous designer lehengas to caricature mehendi to whatnot, couples try everything under the moon to make their wedding a hit. Recently, a Pakistani bride was weighed in gold bricks on her wedding day, and the video has left the internet berserk.
Gold has been one of the most integral parts of an Asian wedding, especially in India and Pakistan. A bride is gifted with exclusive gold pieces from her family as gets ties the knot. With that said, a Pakistani businessman left everyone's jaws dropped as he weighed his daughter with gold bricks equivalent to her body weight.

The bride, who was decked in a gorgeous green-hued lehenga with multicoloured choli and red-toned dupatta. She was made to sit on a weighing scale while the other of the scale had large gold bricks to equalise her weight.
As soon as the video made it to the internet, drawing multiple reactions from the netizens. While many criticised the wastage of money, some slammed the businessman for showing off his status in times of economic crisis in Pakistan. One user had written, "Itna paisa agar gareebon mat baata hota ya unkr ghar rashan dalwaya hota to kitni duayen lagti un logo." Another commented, "What's the benefit of all this? ... She will be just married after doing such cringe not super married." One netizen also wrote, "There is no food to eat in Pakistan, people are dying due to starvation. No one giving loan to Pakistan and you are showing off."

The bride in the video is Ayesha Tahir, who is being weighed in gold bricks. After the video started getting hate, the bride revealed the truth about the gold bricks. She shared that they had incorporated the gold-weighing ritual to embrace the theme of the famous Bollywood film, Jodha Akbar. She added that people misinterpreted the whole video, and they called it dowry.
The bride further revealed that the bars were not real, and it was gold-plated, which were prepared by the groom's family, considering the bride's attire and jewellery.
