Well, fans of Oprah initially used to call Stedman her husband, interestingly, but the pair never got married. It was in the mid-1980s that their relationship started and has lasted for four decades. For the unversed, Oprah was born on January 29, 1954 while Stedman was born in March 6, 1951.
Oprah Winfrey's partner, Stedman Graham is 2 years and 10 months older than Oprah, and both of them have an age gap of about three years. Their actual age gap has always been one of the most raised questions. The couple has a relatively small age gap, which at times has surprised their sea of fans.
Oprah Winfrey once famously stated that the secret to being happily together for decades was the fact that her man never became a husband, and always stayed a boyfriend. She had stated in an interview with Page Six that it did not really make a lot of difference in her life. Oprah shared that Graham never wanted her to lose weight.
Oprah Winfrey stated that she felt embarrassed by her own size when she was at her heaviest. Oprah also praised the medical prescription and revealed that she had the option as a tool to live a healthier life. She felt it was a relief, a redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and be ridiculed for again.
It was in 1988 when Oprah Winfrey and her beloved Stedman Graham went to attend a boxing match between Mike Tyson and Michael Spinks. The announcer stated that Tyson's weight back then was 218, and Winfrey felt pretty self-conscious. Oprah was sitting next to Stedman, who had low self-esteem and had said:
"Wow, here’s this handsome guy sitting with somebody who weighs as much as the heavyweight champion of the world."
Oprah also shared that she felt sorry for Stedman at the moment, then realised that the shame she felt was actually inside her head. For the unversed, Winfrey was engaged to Graham for the longest time, as she believed things would have changed if they had got married. She stated that she was working these 17-hour days, and so were her producers. When she went back home, she had her two dogs and Stedman, who let her be who she was in the full world.
