After completing his college studies, Om Raut started working as a writer and director at MTV Network in New York City. Thereafter he returned to India and joined DAR Motion Pictures as Creative Director. For the unversed, Adipurush is a mythological film and an adaptation of the Hindu epic Ramayana. However, as per the reports, in 2022, a case was registered against the director over Saif Ali Khan's look in Adipurush.
In October 2022, after the film's promotional video was launched, it again attracted controversies by the claim that Hindu deities were misrepresented in an “unwarranted” and “inaccurate” manner. Soon after, at a press conference, Om Raut dismissed the allegations, claiming that Saif's, i.e., 'Ravan's, appearance was designed by the film's creators and had a contemporary connection. In the same conversation, he also added that Adipurush is just a translation from books to celluloid.
Recently, On June 7, 2023, Kriti Sanon and the director, Om Raut, were spotted outside the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple as they went out to seek blessings for their much-anticipated film. However, what gave rise to the controversies was when Om Raut was seen giving Kriti a kiss when they were parting ways. The internet was divided as they didn't like this PDA in such a religious place. Soon after such an incident, both the director and the actress were brutally trolled, and netizens even started calling their behaviour shameless.
