Oliver Tree passed away in a tragic helicopter accident on June 14, 2026 (ET). The musician was well known for his songs, such as Alien Baby, Hurt, Life Goes On, and Cowboys Don't Cry. However, along with his music, it was his history with drugs and addiction and finding his way to sobriety that often made headlines. Amid his demise, an old video of the singer has resurfaced, where he talked about his addiction and how he found his way out of it with music.
Oliver Tree was just 32 years old when he lost his life during a tragic accident. For the unversed, the singer was in South America on a world tour when he decided to take a helicopter ride. According to reports, the helicopter collided with another helicopter over an electric vehicle yard in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, a popular tourist destination in Southwest Rio de Janeiro.

The video, which is now going viral, was shared by Dose of Society, mourning the death of Oliver Tree. In the video, the singer was asked about "an experience that's changed" his life. To which Tree recalled the death of his cousin, Wayne. He revealed that his cousin's death made him realise how uncertain life is and inspired him to try everything. However, this mentality also became the reason for his drug addiction.

Oliver Tree revealed that soon enough, he was not just consuming drugs, but he was also selling them. He recalled how he was even kicked out of his house for the same reason. However, what surprised the fans was his revelation of a "rebirth" like experience. He was quoted as saying:
"When I was 13, my cousin Wayne had spiral meningitis. Within a week, the patient became brain-dead and died. After that moment, I was like I can die at any time, so I wanted to take every moment and try everything, which ultimately led to my becoming a drug addict. I started selling drugs and got kicked out of my home. I had an LSD trip where I actually watched my own funeral, and I had what's actually called rebirth. I had died, and I woke up the next day and realised I was still alive."

In the same conversation, Oliver Tree revealed that a few days after the intense hallucination, he had a big concert he got to perform at. He shared that it was that moment that eventually became his saviour. He reflected on how music became something he felt could save him while also healing others. He was quoted as saying:

"I had an opportunity to play a big concert, and music became my saviour, my healing, my religion, and it gave me a chance to take my addiction and become addicted to something that could actually save me and help other people in the process."
Oliver Tree had eventually found his way out of addiction. He had stopped using hard drugs for several years and had even stopped consuming alcohol for around three years. He was focused on his music and living life before his passing. The interview also reflected on his "advice for people who are struggling with some sort of addiction and are going through a painful moment". He was quoted as saying:
"Remind yourself, in that moment of suffering, that it’s a reminder of how precious and short life is, and use that as momentum to take advantage of every single second of every single day. Make the most of it; don’t live your life to satisfy people who are for you and what's right for you."
