Nicole Kidman Reveals She Was Lonely On The Night She Won Her First Oscars, 'I Went Home And I..'

And that's what Nicole Kidman also felt back in 2003 when she was at the peak of her acting career. The gorgeous actress had won the Oscars for her role as 'Virginia Woolf' in The Hours.
Nicole Kidman talked about the loneliest phase of her life
Nicole revealed in the latest episode of the Therapuss podcast that she was at the highest peak of her acting career and had figured everything out. But she was extremely lonely, despite having the golden lady in her hand. She stated that she had the best moment of her life, but she went home, and she was alone. She said:
"I was beyond lonely. I had the pinnacle of my success, and I went home and was so lonely."

For the unversed, Nicole had divorced her first husband, Tom Cruise, in the year 2001, and she won the Oscars in 2023 and it served as a wake-up call in her personal life. She revealed that she had her parents with her, but she felt that she missed having a partner with whom she could share her happiness. Nicole called it one of the most profound moments of her life, where she realized that she got to have a life. She said:
"So, yeah, crazy, though, that sort of the confluence of events where you go, ‘I wish…’ I had my mom with me and my dad, but I was like, ‘Where’s my partner, someone that I can share this with?’ It was one of the most profound moments where I went, ‘I’ve got to get a life’ and at the same time, I’m holding this gold statue where you go, ‘This is, this is it. This is the highest sort of prize you can get in our industry.’ And so grateful and yet so lonely."
Nicole stated that she felt weird at that time, as she wanted to wrap her arms around someone. To have someone with whom she could feel that yes, it was her real life. Nicole and Tom got married in 1990. But they parted ways in 2001. Nicole went on to marry country singer, Keith Urban in 2006. The two welcomed two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret.
However, after 19 years of marriage, Nicole and Keith decided to part ways in 2025, and their divorce was finalized in January 2026. Nicole had earlier also talked about her Oscar win in a book about the Academy Awards. She had written how she was struggling in her personal life while her professional life was amazing.
Nicole revealed that after going through that self-realization, she decided not to party and decided to skip the Vanity Fair Party. Recalling the moment, Nicole revealed that it was like she was gloating. She said:
"I’m not a big party girl, so I was going to skip the Vanity Fair party, and everyone was like, ‘You’ve got to go. You’ve got to walk through the party carrying your Academy Award,’ I said, ‘That just feels like gloating, and it doesn’t feel humble.’ Like, what? You can’t walk through carrying the award! That feels really inappropriate. They’re like, ‘That’s what you do.’"
Nicole revealed that despite not feeling like partying, she walked into the party and carried the award. She was overwhelmed, extremely emotional and kept apologizing which was stupid, and she hoped that she could have enjoyed the night.
