Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban were one of the most popular and high-profile couples in the industry, given their beautiful Hollywood-meets-country-music love story. However, the fairy tale has come to an end, and the couple formally ended their 19-year marriage with a court settlement that was filed on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.
The filing comes three months after the Rabbit Hole actress submitted divorce papers citing irreconcilable differences. The couple had confirmed their separation in September 2025. Here's what we know about their finalised divorce settlement.
According to court documents obtained by PEOPLE, both Kidman and Urban have agreed to waive all rights to child and spousal support in the divorce settlement. Each party has agreed to cover its own legal fees and expenses, citing their monthly incomes that reportedly exceed USD 100,000 each.
Though there's no information about a prenuptial agreement, the court documents clarified that both parties will retain the property that they currently possess and split the remaining assets, including investments, bank accounts, personal belongings, household items, and vehicles, through mutual consent.
Nicole and Keith, both 45, share two daughters, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 17, and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, 15. Under their new parenting plan, the girls will primarily stay at the actress's residence for 306 days of the year, while the singer has been granted 59 days annually, with visitation scheduled for every other weekend.

Both parents retain joint decision-making authority for major aspects of their daughters’ lives. The agreement highlights strict language for both parties that encourages mutual respect. The parenting plan states that the former couple must:
"...behave with each other and each child so as to provide a loving, stable, consistent, and nurturing relationship with the child, even though they are divorced. They will not speak badly of each other or the members of the family of the other parent. They will encourage each child to continue to love the other parent and be comfortable in both families."
If insider accounts are to be believed, Kidman and Urban's separation had been in motion for quite some time. The estranged couple had reportedly been living apart since early summer 2025, long before rumours of marital tension surfaced online. Kidman's last post featuring Urban was on their 19th wedding anniversary (June 25, 2025).
The news of their split became public in September 2025, just before Kidman officially filed for divorce in Nashville, Tennessee. At the time of the announcement, an insider noted that Kidman did not initially want the marriage to end and had been trying to work through their issues. In fact, it was allegedly Urban who had moved out of their family home and into his own residence.

Ultimately, the relationship was described as having reached a point where continuing was impractical and impossible. Neither Nicole nor Keith was physically present in court for the final hearing. According to AP, Judge Stephanie J. Williams stated:
"There exist such irreconcilable difference between the parties that would render continuation of the marriage impractical and impossible.”
Nicole and Keith's relationship started in 2005, and they tied the knot the following year in Sydney, Australia. They welcomed their first daughter, Sunday, in 2008, followed by the second, Faith, in 2010. The former couple were last seen together publicly just days before their anniversary, when they attended the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup match between Los Angeles Football Club and Espérance de Tunis at GEODIS Park in Nashville on June 20, 2025. Kidman was previously married to Tom Cruise, with whom she shares two adult children, Bella Kidman Cruise, 32, and Connor Cruise, 30.
Now officially separated, Nicole and Keith's sources emphasise that there is no animosity. An earlier report by PEOPLE stated that their daughters are adjusting well to the change and spending time with both parents. On January 2, 2026, the Oscar-winning actress celebrated her first new year as a single mother, posting a photo with Summer and Faith on her Instagram Stories. Sharing the quiet moment, Kidman wrote, “Looking forward into 2026 xx.”

After 19 years together, Kidman and Urban are now entering a new chapter as they rang in the new year. And this new chapter is defined by a shared commitment to raising their daughters with stability and respect.
