A post has been making rounds on X (Former Twitter ) from ‘Film Updates’, which claims that the live-action remake of the animated movie, Tangled is in the works. Right after the post surfaced online, people started to pitch in their favourite celebrity for the character of ‘Rapunzel’. However, the one who is heading the race is none other than the Tamil-Canadian actress, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan.
Never Have I Ever fame actress, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is undoubtedly one of the most talented actresses of recent times. Interestingly, the actress has Indian roots as her parents are Tamil Hindus who shifted to Canada for their careers. The actress is also quite popular for her lustrous silky long hair, and netizens believe that Maitreyi will be the perfect fit for ‘Rapunzel’.

Tangled was one of the most successful ventures of Disney, and them considering its live-action remake was only a matter of time. Amidst numerous suggestions by netizens on who to cast as the new 'Rapunzel', the one with the maximum number of votes was the Never Have I Ever actress, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan. People worldwide took to X (former Twitter) and declared Maitreyi Ramakrishnan as ‘The People’s Rapunzel’. The X users further posted:
Maitreyi Ramakrishnan was not the only celebrity in the race to grasp the Disney ‘Rapunzel’ title. Apart from her, Sabrina Carpenter and Florence Pugh were also in talks to be cast as the new 'Rapunzel'. Where Florence Pugh was said to be the production’s favourite, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and Sabrina Carpenter were fans’ favourites. Apart from the three, Millie Bobby Brown was also one prominent name being considered for the role.

As much as the role of 'Rapunzel' is creating a buzz, her lover-interest, 'Flynn Rider', is not far behind. X users want Fabien Frankel to be cast as 'Flynn Rider'. Fabien Frankel is a British actor, who was last seen in the series, House Of The Dragon. Apart from him, Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Zakhar Perez are the other strong contenders for the role.
