Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao’s popular teenage love story, Ishq Vishk is a movie that still reverberates across the hearts of several cinema lovers. The film was quite special for the two of them, since it was not only Shahid’s debut film, but Amrita’s first successful Bollywood film. Moreover, the film also paved the way for a flourishing career for the two of them, who didn’t look back since. But did you know that Amrita had faced difficulty in shooting a particular scene in the film? Well, scroll down as we reveal to you the rather special story behind it.
Earlier, in a radio show with her husband, RJ Anmol, Amrita Rao talked about her most popular film, Ishq Vishk that was released in 2003. Amongst all the happy memories of shooting the film, the actress recalled facing difficulty in doing a particular scene in the film, wherein she was supposed to slap her co-actor, Shahid Kapoor. Amrita was left perplexed, as she hadn’t slapped anyone before, and so it was difficult for her to complete the scene. However, it was Shahid’s mother, Neliima Azeem, who was also a part of the film, who came to Amrita’s help. The latter mentioned:
“This was the first time I was slapping someone for real... Something interesting happened during that, so Shahid's mother, Neelima Azim ji, who is also a wonderful actress would mostly hang out with us during the shoot and since I had no formal training in acting, she used to give a lot of tips. I remember that she was there at the corner of my eye standing and motivating me saying 'Amrita you have to do this, you have to slap him. It was funny and at the same time, very encouraging and finally, I did it and he was so happy with the reaction he got.”

With the success of their film, Ishq Vishk, Shahid collaborated with Amrita on several other films, including Vivah, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi, Shikhar among others. The duo’s sizzling on-screen chemistry led to everyone speculate that the duo might be dating one another. Moreover, these reports came afire after Shahid broke up with Kareena. But, in one of his old interviews, the actor addressed such fake rumours and clarified his stance. He had said:
“After me and Kareena broke up, there was a rumour that me and Amrita (Rao) are now suddenly seeing each other. Poor thing, we’ve known each other for four years (at the time) and now, randomly, suddenly we are linked up.”
Further in his revelation, Shahid narrated an incident where he had gone to see a film along with one of his friends and the latter’s family. Incidentally, Amrita too was present there with some other set of people, but in the same film hall. Revealing how the media made two out of two and concluded that Amrita and Shahid went on a date together with the latter’s family, the actor said:
“Two days later comes the news that me and Amrita have gone to see a film and she’s come to see my family and she’s bonded with my father. I assumed that Amrita was there and was seeing another film. When I spoke to her on the phone the following day, she informed me that she is not even in town. Things like that, when you read stuff like that I (wonder) where do you make this stuff up from?"

Yet another controversy associated with Amrita Rao’s film career was the time when she got slapped by her co-actress, Esha Deol during the shooting of their film, Pyaare Mohan in 2005. According to reports, it all started when Amrita said something ugly about Esha publicly in the presence of the crew members and director of the shoot. Feeling humiliated by such a gesture, Esha couldn’t control her anger and slapped Amrita for the same.
