One of the famous and most loved heart-throbs from the silver screen, Neil Nitin Mukesh, shattered many hearts when he announced that he is taken. Well, the lucky girl is Rukmini Sahay, a Mumbai-based and they met through their families. Yes, it was an arranged match. The two had a hush-hush roka ceremony at a five-star hotel in 2016 and tied the knot in the following year, on February 9, 2017.
One year has flown by and it seems that we were just enjoying their wedding celebrations. Well, on this lovely occasion of completing one year of togetherness, the actor took to Instagram and wished his beautiful wifey in the most adorable manner. He posted this below picture and captioned it as, “1 year just flew by. I love you loads. Thank you so much for being you and being a part of my life forever. I Love you loads baby. Cannot even think of life without you. @rukminineilmukesh Happy 1st anniversary”
It was really surprising for one and all that he chose the arranged marriage route. Though there are many examples from the industry now who went on to this path. Nonetheless, it’s all about the understanding and connection that matters, no? Neil too thinks that there is nothing wrong with it and was once quoted as saying, “There’s nothing shocking about it. Sometimes we overlook things, which our parents don’t and it’s coming together of two families. And when you look into detailing, it makes more sense. It’s a strong foundation." In fact, when he announced his wedding news, there were so many mixed reactions from the fans and people on social media. Initially, the negative comment on it bothered him, but eventually, he fought then and would laugh them off. In an interview earlier, he said, “People would often come up to me surprised, ‘Neil you are having an arranged marriage!’ Initially, I got defensive but now I just laugh it off.” He also said, “I love the idea of fans thinking about their actors to have a fairytale life, which is beautiful. Both Neil and Rukmini are head over heels in love with each other. Talking about how intimidated she was initially by his celeb status, he said, “She was slightly concerned initially about the whole ‘actor thing’, but when she met me, she was very comfortable. Right now she is meeting my friends and family. It will take her time to get used to the industry we belong to. I am sure that they (industry people) will make her feel extremely welcomed and warm. Whoever has met her has loved her and she has liked them too. It’s like meeting new friends and bonding with them.”
Neil leaves no stone unturned to make her feel special. In fact, on her birthday this year (on January 28, 2018), he again took to social media to wish his ladylove. He shared these below pictures of the celebrations and captioned them this, “Happy birthday to the gorgeous person in my life, my wife. I love you loads Rukmini. Have a blessed year. Have a lovely day. Keep smiling and being my reason to smile.”
