Badhai Ho actress Neena Gupta was recently roped in by DNA to know a little bit about her recently released movie. Along with this, she was also asked about her daughter, Masaba Gupta’s separation with husband, Madhu Mantena. For the uninitiated ones, ace designer, Masaba walked down the aisle with film producer beau, Madhu Mantena in June 2015. After three years of marriage, their relationship has hit the rough patch. Announcing this shocking news, Masaba shared a post on her official Instagram account. The statement could be read as, “To, our family, friends, acquaintances, With a lot of sadness, Madhu & I have decided today to go on a trial separation in our marriage. Both of us have taken this decision after consulting professionals and our parents. The only thing we are ready to say right now is, 'what we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on the marriage and the love that we share. Hence, we would take time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life".
The statement could further be read as, "We are not strong enough to explain ourselves to even friends who deserve an answer from us. All we can say to them is to give us time and to give us love when we reach out to you. We now need a lot of it”. And concluded with, “While we know, given the world and the lives we live in will lead to speculation, rumours and dragging us down into the dirt at this time. We are communicating and encouraging each other to be brave and reminding ourselves the only priority at this time is the well-being and protection of our own selves and our families. Coming back to Neena ji, recently in an interview with DNA, Neena Gupta opened up about this trial separation. Sharing the kind of equation she shares with her daughter, Masaba, Neena said, “Masaba is quite unlike me. She’s an introvert, who has her own mind and likes to take risks. We don’t share everything, but we talk a lot about various things.” And when asked about what advice she gave to her daughter after she announced her separation with Madhu. Neena was quoted as saying, “They have still not taken a definite step. They are trying to figure a way out. It’s too early to talk about it, but whatever has to happen, will happen. When the time comes, we will discuss it.”
For the ones who don’t know, Neena has led a life of a single mother for many years of her life. Masaba is her love child with the cricketer, Vivian Richards. Later, in 2008, she went on to marry entrepreneur, Vivek Mehra. Talking about her motherhood journey, Neena in an interview with the Hindustan Times revealed, "My journey was very tough. I had no money. Money is the most important thing, I have realised in this world. I didn't have a husband and relatives. So, it was really tough, but the joy Masaba gave me... Earlier in another promotional event of her recently released movie Badhai Ho, Neena was asked about Masaba’s separation and if she has asked them to get back together. To this, the 59-year-old mother replied, "Yaar, pata hota toh baat hi kya thi. Yeh toh bhagwaan hi jaante hai, aur sirf wohi jaante hain. I really don’t know what will happen.” And she further added, “They said, we are adults, let us work it out at our won, you stay out of this, so I am staying out.”
Earlier when Madhu and Masaba were madly in love with each other, he was quoted as saying, “I can marry her any number of times” and further added, “She has brought stability into my life. The quality that I like best about Masaba is her straightforwardness. She is blunt and forthright. But unlike other blunt people, she isn’t rude or insensitive. She is very kind and compassionate.
