Recently, in an interview with Instant Bollywood, Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff talked about their now-released film, Mast Mein Rehne Ka, their professional life and their respective children. “If you notice gaane ke end mein ek ‘aaaa’ kar ke part aata hai, aise kar ke paanch cheh bar aata hai, toh usme aap agar ab gaana dekhenge toh usme main nahi hun, mera face nahi hai sirf Madhuri ka hai, toh usme mera bhi hona tha. Subhash ji ne mujhe bataya ki tumko iss tarah se iska action karna hai, par mere se nahi hua. Pata nahi kya hua, nahi hua aur unhone mere se hata ke wo part bhi Madhuri ko de diya. Main saalon tak roti rahi, neend mein bhi karti thi ki accha aise karna tha. Arey nahi hua unke pasand ka, aaj bhi main jaake bolun ki sikha do ab aur ab daal dena gaane mein.”

Neena Gupta mentioned how she has been doing since her daughter, Masaba's marriage

In the same interview, Neena Gupta spoke about her equation with her daughter, Masaba Gupta. The host talked about loneliness which comes with age. She talked about how after children grow up, parents want their kids to be with them and be their pillar of support, and not forget about their parents when they have a life of their own. The host further asked if Neena Gupta and Jackie Shroff had ever had these types of conversations with their respective kids. To this, Neena Gupta said:

“I have learnt that she (Masaba) is now married. She has her own life. I tell myself all the time, even now, ki usko jeene do, beech mein ghuso mat. Kyunki main aur wo akele rahe hai bohot saalon tak, toh mereko usi ki aadat hai, usi ka dekho. Toh jab shaadi huyi, main toh pagal ho gayi, kya karoon ab, but I tell myself, leave her alone, and I make my life with myself, I have to do that.”

If she is convinced, then that’s good, and if she is not, she still prefers listening to the director. The host asked if, after working for so many years in the industry, saying no to people has become easy or not. Neena Gupta mentioned:

“Main toh pehle na bol hi nahi sakti thi. Jab maine pehli bar ek script ko na bola toh main jump kar rahi thi kyunki pehle toh aisa mauka hi nahi tha na, toh jo milta tha haan bolna padta tha kyunki paise chahiye the. Jab maine pehle baar ek badi picture ko na bola, I was so proud of myself, I was so happy that I could say no.”
