Neena Gupta Recalled Being Body-Shamed At 60, Asked Her Team To Tell People She Was Pregnant

Neena Gupta recalled what she did when she was body-shamed at the age of 60
Apart from her stellar acting, Neena is loved for her witty responses. During an interaction with CNN-News18, Neena spoke about handling nosy relatives and revealed that she has no patience for people who judge others for their life choices. Neena clearly voiced her opinions when dealing with people who indulged in body shaming. The veteran actress recalled an incident when a wardrobe mishap led people to believe that she was pregnant as she looked a little bulky. Elaborating on the same, Neena said:
“I was wearing a saree earlier, and I adjusted it here like this, and it got a bit bulky around here, near my waist. People were like, ‘At my age, 60, am I pregnant?'”

As a response, Neena asked her team to say she was indeed pregnant. Going further in the interview, Neena revealed the one piece of advice she gives to people dealing with a similar kind of body-shaming and said, “So I advise people around me, tell them you’re pregnant if they body-shame you.”
Neena Gupta recalled being molested during her growing years
In Neena Gupta's autobiography, Sach Kahun Toh, she recalled some shocking instances from her early years. The actress revealed that she was molested by a doctor when she went to get her eyes examined. Sharing details about the molestation, Neena said:
“The doctor started with examining my eye and then went down to check out other areas that were unconnected with my eye. I was scared stiff while it was happening and felt disgusted all the way home. I sat in a corner in the house and cried my eyes out when nobody was looking."

Neena also revealed that she never dared to tell her mother, fearing that she would be blamed for the incident. The actress felt that her mom would say that she might have done something to provoke him. She also recounted another incident when her tailor got "too handsy" while taking her measurements.
Neena revealed that despite the miserable situation, she kept going back to him even after the incident since she had no other choice. She also wrote about being propositioned at the age of 16 by one of her brother's friends, and she managed to politely refuse his advances without offending him.
Neena Gupta is a splendid actress who made a breakthrough with the acclaimed drama, Woh Chokri in 1994. She won a National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film. Later, with movies like Mandi, Rihaee and Drishti, Neena established her profile in Indian movies. In 2018, she made a comeback with the comic-drama Badhaai Ho.
