MasterChef India Winner, Nayanjyoti Saikia Reveals His Father Was Against His Dream To Become A Cook

One of the well-known Hindi reality shows is none other than MasterChef India. The show is a cooking competition show based on the popular show, MasterChef Australia. MasterChef India completed its season 7 just one day before. The show began on January 2, 2023, with the judges, Vikas Khanna, Ranveer Brar, and Garima Arora. On March 31, 2023, MasterChef India 7 ended after 13 weeks of an entertaining journey. Suvarna Bagul from Maharashtra, Santa Sarmah, and Nayanjyoti Saikia from Assam advanced to the 'Ultimate Grand Finale' of MasterChef India 7 after facing stiff competition and passing all the elimination rounds.

In the Grand Finale of MasterChef India 7, the finalists were given a task to prepare a 'signature three-course meal challenge'. In this challenge, the participants had to cook three dishes and impress the judges with the meal's taste, presentation, and innovation. The set of the final was graced by Sanjeev Kapoor, a well-known chef and television personality, who made the final judgement of the finalists' performances.

However, after fighting the toughest, Nayanjyoti Saikia won the MasterChef India 7. The winner was awarded the golden chef coat, with his name written on it, along with a cheque of Rs. 25 lakhs and the coveted trophy of MasterChef India. Among two other finalists, Santa Sarmah, also from Assam, was the 2nd runners-up. Suvarna Bagul from Maharashtra won the position of the third runners-up. Both of the runner-ups were awarded a cheque of Rs. 5 lakhs.

Undoubtedly, winning seems surreal to everyone, but when it comes to winning a big reality show like MasterChef, then winning seems beyond amazing. The same is the case with MasterChef India 7 winner, Nayanjyoti Saikia. After winning the competition, the winner told India Today that although he had simple dreams, this win fulfilled all his goals.

Nayanjyoti Saiki shared that despite having many self-doubts, the judges' motivation made him hold onto hope and even win the competition. He also explained how the judge, Vikas Khanna helped him since the audition and how happy his father is, who was once against the idea of Nayanjyoti being a chef. He shared that all the achievements are worth it. In Nayanjyoti Saikia's words:

"I had a simple dream and that was to go to MasterChef India and cook, but now I feel like all my goals in life are complete. I not only go to MasterChef, but I also got the apron, and winning this intense food competition feels surreal! I had my self-doubts, but the three judges motivated us so much, especially Chef Vikas Khanna who has helped me so much since the day of the auditions. The biggest thing is that my father is the happiest of them all; he was against the idea of seeing me cook but today, this achievement makes it all worth it."

Nayanjyoti Saikia's exciting journey in MasterChef India 7

The winner is from a small village in Assam's Tinsukia. He was born on March 12, 1997, and is of 26 years now. The young winner did his schooling at Sumarjyoti Vidyalaya and Gyan Vigyan Academy, both in Dibrugarh, Assam. The winner has had an exciting journey so far. As per the reports, Chef, Vikas Khanna was searching for an Assamese home cook, and at that time, he was quite a bit impressed with Nayanjyoti's Instagram. So, Chef, Vikas went to Nayanjyoti's home in Assam, tested his cooking, and invited him to MasterChef India 7. While talking to India Today, Chef, Vikas Khanna shared how much he is impressed with the winner of MasterChef India 7. Vikas Khanna shared:

"I still remember the timid Nayanjyoti from Tinsukia, who I went to meet in his house. I was so impressed by his vision and creativity and how he can turn food into art. He inspired me through his social media posts and so I decided that he was the right fit for MasterChef India."
