'Nayak 2': Anil Kapoor Set To Act In Sequel Besides Producing It, Confirms Co-Producer, Deepak Mukut

Anil Kapoor is one of the most beloved actors and producers in Bollywood. Having made his debut years back in 1979 with a small role in Umesh Mehra's Hamare Tumhare, he did not have to look back as his acting career started to take off. His filmography includes dozens of memorable movies that have touched audiences' hearts. One such film is the 2001 entertainer, Nayak: The Real Hero. Here, Anil Kapoor played the role of a Chief Minister who was initially just a righteous civilian of his country.

Now, reports suggest that Anil Kapoor, aside from filmmaker, Deepak Mukut has acquired the rights to the political cult classic. To add to the good news, Anil Kapoor will also act in the film's sequel on top of producing it.  

Anil Kapoor will jointly produce Nayak 2 with Deepak Mukut 

Recently, reports surfaced online about Anil Kapoor having acquired the rights to his blockbuster movie, Nayak: The Real Hero. The news, which came a quarter of a century after the film was first released on September 1, 2001, had fans eagerly awaiting the renewal of the classic political actioner. For the unversed, Nayak's copyright was previously only held by producer, Deepak Mukut. Putting fans' minds at ease, he confirmed that the sequel, Nayak 2, is indeed in the works and will jointly be produced by him and Anil Kapoor. Additionally, he also stated that the viewers can expect to see Anil Kapoor act in the film besides producing it. When approached for a comment on whether the veteran actor bought the rights of Nayak from him, Deepak Mukut told Hindustan Times:  

"He and I are making the film together. It is too early to say anything about it since several discussions are going on." 

At the same time, Deepak Mukut also confirmed the Nayak sequel, claiming that "it is in the works and we are producing the film together." Deepak sounded confident as ever when asked if Anil Kapoor would also be part of the film, replying with, "Of course, he will!" It is worth mentioning that additional details about Nayak 2's cast, director, and production schedule have not been officially confirmed by either Deepak Mukut or Anil Kapoor.  

In another conversation with Bombay Times, Deepak Mukut described Nayak 2 as a legacy project. He claimed that both he and Anil Kapoor are fine with all the rumours. Although he couldn't reveal too many details about the movie at present, he said that "it is in process" and that they "will announce it shortly." Furthermore, the producer also went on to talk about the timing of the sequel. To quote his exact words:  

"It is a legacy project. It's been almost 25 years. Every film has its own destiny. When the time comes, it happens. And we realised it is a good time to do it now. Once the script is locked and everything is fixed, only then will the film begin." 

Anil Kapoor is reportedly really excited about Nayak 2 

If a source quoted by the entertainment portal, Bollywood Hungama, is to be believed, Anil Kapoor is allegedly thrilled to be working on Nayak's sequel. Additionally, the source also claimed that the actor totally understands how much of a political cult classic the film has become since its release 25 years ago. He said: 

"He (Anil Kapoor) is fully aware of the love he has garnered for the film over the years and believes that the subject of Nayak has tremendous potential for a second part."
