Nawazuddin Siddiqui has already proved his mettle in acting in countless films like Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Gangs Of Wasseypur 2, Black Friday, The Lunchbox, Manto, Motichoor Chaknachoor and many more. However, Nawazuddin's tough and stoic nature in one after the other projects has etched a special place in the hearts of his millions of fans. For instance, his character of 'Ganesh Gaitonde' in the web series, Sacred Games, running for three long seasons, was one of them. But when Nawazuddin was asked about being typecast in his films, his answer by taking an indirect dig at Shah Rukh Khan by copying him irked the netizens.
Recently, a Reddit user reshared a video of Nawazuddin from one of his interviews. In the video, Nawaz was asked, "Kahi nah kahi jo bhi unki characteristics hai wo similar hai ya log kehete hai aap, Nawaz same type ke roles kar rahe hai. Apko aesa lagta hai? Mtlb sunne mein aya hai kabhi aesa?" To this, Nawazuddin, who was seen seated opposite to the interviewer, gave an interesting answer. He was heard saying that mainly heroes are typecasted, and he tried to show Shah Rukh Khan's iconic pose with his hand gesture. Thus, taking an indirect dig at Shah Rukh Khan, Nawazuddin said:
"Main itna jiddi admi hu ki kabhi apne aap ko typecast hone nhi dunga, type cast ka matlab hota hai, typecast hota hain hero, film ke hero, jab 35 saal tak baas ye tarah ke cheejein karte rehte hai. Iss mamle mein bahut jiddi hu main."
Nawazuddin's statement left Shah Rukh Khan's fans disappointed. Moreover, they were seen commenting how in reality, Nawazuddin is facing typecast in almost all his films. While one Reddit user wrote, "Isko pata nahi hai... Par ye type cast ho chuka hai... As a GAREEB AADMI OR CRIMINAL", another netizen commented, "Yeah he did because he was the best guy for those kind of roles and it was commercially very successful but he is not at all one trick pony he did different roles and mastered some of them. He did a hey ram and made Ashoka so that SRK is not just spreading arms."

For the unversed, Nawazuddin Siddiqi was part of Shah Rukh Khan’s 2000 drama, Hey Ram. Afterwards, Nawazuddin and SRK also worked together in the 2017 movie, Raees. Although both the actors work in entirely different kinds of films, but they tend to share a good professional bond in the public sphere. And if reports are to be believed, they will be once again seen in a short scene in the film, Tiger 3.
