Somebody knows something, and this is a new story today that is on your radar, but this is the life that my sister lives, that I live, that my brother lives, that our extended families live, that our children live, every day. And we are in agony. We cannot be at peace."

Savannah Guthrie broke down in tears and shared that her return to The TODAY Show was really hard amid her mother's disappearance

Earlier, this month, on June 8, 2026, Savannah broke down in tears during the fourth hour of The TODAY Show. She got candid about her professional and personal life balance. She mentioned that it was really tough for her to return to The TODAY Show amid her mom’s disappearance. She revealed that the show gave her a brief break from her mental agony. She was quoted as saying:

"It’s really hard to come back. I’ve been trying so hard to hold it together, and I promise I will. I’m happy to be back. It’s like the two hours of my day — it’s not that I’m not thinking about it, because I am — but it’s something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody. But no, it’s not easy. It’s a little respite. And you are my family. I don’t think if I had any other kind of job, I would’ve even tried to come back. I just felt like, what else should I do? And my mom would’ve said the same like, ‘Honey, just keep going, just keep going.’ And so, I am."
