Such was the thing with Tollywood actor, Naga Chaitanya, who was not just linked up with his co-star, Anushka Shetty, but they were also rumoured to be secretly engaged. While reports of their engagement had left them baffled, it was Chaitanya's father, Nagarjuna Akkineni's reaction to it that was hilarious.
A few days back, Naga Chaitanya had made it to the headlines for his failed marriage with Samantha Ruth Prabhu. However, it is his family, and especially his father, who is cheering him up in these difficult times. Well, this is not the first time that he has been doing that. Whether it was giving a valuable piece of advice to his son before his wedding to Samantha or taking a fun jibe at his engagement rumours with Anushka Shetty, this superstar daddy has done all of it.

In a throwback interview with the Hyderabad Times in 2017, Nagarjuna Akkineni had addressed the rumours of his son, Chaitanya's engagement with Bahubali fame, Anushka Shetty. Sharing how he had called his son and had held him accountable for not informing his father and they had a good laugh, the superstar had said:
''He (Naga Chaitanya) was shooting in Switzerland when that rumour spread. I called him up early morning and said, 'hey, you got engaged to Anushka last night and you didn't even tell me…' He said, 'Woahh, really…' and laughed aloud. I called Anushka too and we all had a good laugh."
In an old interview with The Times Of India, Nagarjuna Akkineni had talked about the valuable piece of advice he had given to his son when he had expressed his wish to move out of his parent's house to live his bachelor life. The superstar had said:
"Yes, chai wants to move out by the end of this year... he should. This is the best part of his life, let him enjoy. He is a young, successful bachelor. This is the time to enjoy his independence...

Going further in the interview, Nagarjuna had spilt the beans on how it was him, who had told Chaitanya to move out. But, he used to keep on coming back to get his laundry done. In his words:
''I keep asking him, 'what are you doing at home with me... I need my privacy...' He wants to move out, but wants his food and laundry and everything to be done at my place. (laughs...)"
After Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu had announced their decision to part ways as husband and wife, Nagarjuna had shared an emotional note on the same. Talking about the good times he and his family had with Sam, the actor had written:
''With a heavy heart let me say this! Whatever happened between Sam and Chay is very unfortunate. What happens between a wife and husband is very personal. Sam and Chay both are dear to me. My family will always cherish the moments spent with Sam and she will always be dear to us! May God bless them both with strength."

On the work front, Naga Chaitanya and Anushka Shetty had worked together in films like Super, Don, Ragada and Thaandavam. Therefore, it was their growing closeness with each other that had sparked rumours of their alleged relationship.
