Musafir Cafe premiered on Netflix on July 24, 2026. The eight-episode romantic drama is based on Divya Prakash Dubey’s Hindi novel and is set across Bhopal and Mussoorie. Created by Sharanya Rajgopal and directed by Ruchir Arun, it stars Vikrant Massey as 'Chander,' Vedika Pinto as 'Sudha,' and Mahima Makwana as 'Preeti.'

The story follows three people whose lives intersect by chance. It’s about love, timing, and how certain people enter our lives to change us, even if they aren’t meant to stay. While the show is currently trending on the streaming platform, netizens have been eager to know how much the cast members received for their appearance.

Vikrant Massey has received the highest salary among the other cast of Musafir Cafe

Musafir Cafe’s budget is spread out across multiple departments. The biggest line items are the actors. Eight key names, from leads to supporting stars, were brought in at different pay bands depending on experience and pull. Behind them, there’s the core crew budget for the director, DOP, editors and everyone else on set.

Then comes the actual shoot. Money went into creating sets, taking the team to hill locations that define the show’s visuals, and renting equipment. The sound and music departments also had a dedicated allocation to build the series’ emotional texture. Promotion was another major outlay. Beyond production, the campaign, including Netflix banners, digital ads, trailers and social rollout, allegedly added Rs. 8-12 crore to the bill.

Compared to other Hindi titles on the platform, this fits the usual Rs. 20-50 crore range. It’s well-funded, but not extravagant. The cast is a mix of proven faces and rising talent. What they earned ties back to role size, market rate, and in one case, a producer credit too.

Vikrant Massey sits at the top with an estimated Rs. 10-15 crore. His fee covers both acting and his co-producer role via Homemade Movies. After 12th Fail and Haseen Dillruba, he’s become a go-to name for streaming projects. Vedika Pinto, who plays 'Sudha,' 'Chander’s' girlfriend, is in the Rs. 3-5 crore bracket. She came in with recognition from Nishaanchi and handles a key emotional thread.

For 'Preeti,' the character 'Chander connects with in the hills, Mahima Makwana is said to have received around Rs. 2-3 crore. It’s the heart of the story, and the casting reflects that. Adil Hussain, with a long run in Indian and global cinema, is pegged at roughly Rs. 3-4 crore for an important part that adds gravitas.

The other four, including Rajeev Siddhartha, Anubha Fatehpuria, Loveleen Mishra and Sadia Siddiqui, fall between Rs. 80 lakh and Rs. 2 crore each. That keeps costs balanced without cutting corners on the supporting lineup.

Musafir Cafe is trending right now on Netflix, and the performances have received praise from the audience. Meanwhile, director Ruchir Arun has now opened up on a few more things about the film, including the casting choices. Addressing the reasons behind choosing Vikrant Massey, Ruchir Arun said in his new interview:

“It’s always a pleasure to direct an experienced actor like Vikrant. He was always our choice for Chander, and after working with him, it’s difficult to imagine anyone else in the role. The honesty he brought every day made the character feel relatable and lived-in.”

Ruchir said that viewers can easily connect with grounded romantic leads today instead of larger-than-life heroes. He stated that people need stories about decent individuals and men who can be described as “green flags.” Ruchir said that Vikrant’s character reminds people that kindness, vulnerability, and sincerity can be very attractive.
