Besides that, MS Dhoni is also an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army and a well-known qualified paratrooper. However, at times, Dhoni also faces the brutal effect of social media scrutiny and gets into controversies related to it.
Recently, MS Dhoni attended a wedding and was spotted smoking publicly at a social gathering. In the highly circulated video on social media, the cricketer looked dapper in a blue tuxedo teamed with a crisp white shirt underneath. He was reportedly seen smoking a hookah while being guarded by his close friends and acquaintances, and this created a stir on the internet.

Soon after the video surfaced on the internet, it was widely circulated, and MS Dhoni was also hugely slammed for his actions. While one user commented, "Dhoni is smoking weed. Shame on him", another mentioned, "MS Dhoni (2009) - 'Say No to Smoking!!!' MS Dhoni (today) - Caught smoking on camera. Shameless Thela Dhobi for a reason." However, many netizens also mentioned that celebrity figures should be given a fair chance to live their lives.

This was not only the first time when Dhoni faced social media scrutiny. Earlier, on October 24, 2023, an X user took to their handle and shared two screengrabs from MS Dhoni's official Instagram handle. In the first picture, we got a glimpse of the cricketer's IG profile, which had 5 followers. Upon opening the list of the IG handles that Mahi was following, we could also spot one of Alia Bhatt's fanpages. Thus, soon after the screengrabs were shared on social media, netizens were quick to comment that Mahi might have mistakenly followed Alia Bhatt's fanpage or it was his daughter, Ziva's actions.

However, Dhoni soon took the matter seriously, and proof of the same was found on his IG handle's 'following' list. It seemed the cricketer himself or his team took possible actions against the same. And now, after opening Mahi's official IG handle, only four accounts can be seen listed in the 'following' section. Moreover, the fan page of Alia Bhatt is also not followed now.
