Vera Mindy Chokalingam, aka Mindy Kaling, is an American actress, comedian, screenwriter, and producer who was recognised by Time magazine as one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2013. For her immense contribution to the entertainment industry, she took home several accolades, including two Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Tony Award, the National Medal of the Arts from US President Joe Biden in 2022 and six Primetime Emmy Awards nominations. Thus, we can easily understand the fashion foot she kept forward when she landed at the Met Gala 2024. However, her ensemble reminds us of Aishwarya Rai's look from Cannes 2022.
For Met Gala 2024, Mindy Kaling opted for a pink-hued structured gown from the ace designer, Gaurav Gupta's collection, described as “The Melting Flower of Time”. The entire ensemble featured wavy structured layers that radiated pure grace. Gaurav mentioned, “It’s almost like the gown Mindy is wearing melts away in time, evoking a surreal journey through loops of infinity, as represented by our brand logo.” The custom-made gown fitted beautifully to Mindy and also had a long trail and floral patterns made with the same fabric at the back.

Mindy kept her look absolutely minimal to complement her couture. She opted for a nude base, including brown glossy lips, a highlighted T-zone, thin strokes of eyeliner and a shimmery eyeshadow. Moreover, she opted for a side-parted, neatly combed open hairdo. Two statement rings and sleek earrings added stars to Mindy's Met Gala 2024 look.
For one of the looks at Cannes 2022, Aishwarya Rai opted for a pink-hued sculptured gown from the designer, Gaurav Gupta's collection. The designer described Aishwarya's couture as 'The Birth of Venus'. The custom gown made for the Indian beauty took 3500 hours to make, and was intricately designed with thousands of glass beads and crystals. The outfit was inspired by one of the famous paintings of the Italian artist, Botticelli. Aishwarya's fitted gown also had a dramatic collar and a trail detailing. She completed her look with dewy sheen makeup, glossy lips and wavy side-combed hair.

On November 5, 2021, Priyanka Chopra had taken to her Instagram handle and shared a bundle of pictures of her Diwali celebration. She also shared pictures with the famous Youtuber, Lilly Singh, filmmaker, Mindy Kaling and a few others from a pre-Diwali bash. In the pictures, Mindy was wearing a purple lehenga choli heavily embellished with white threads. She teamed her look with a matching dupatta, a solitaire diamond ring, pearl earrings and an open hairdo. Moreover, glam makeup, including bloshed and highlighted cheeks, kohl-rimmed eyes and glossy brown lipstick, completed her look.
