Millie Bobby Brown defended Jake Bongiovi against allegations of neglecting parental duties
Millie Bobby Brown and Jake Bongiovi's early marriage and parenthood drew support from one section of the internet, who saw them as mature and responsible, while another section was critical. Jake was even accused of being a lousy parent after a video of the couple on an outing with their first child went viral. In the clip, Millie was seen carrying multiple bags and their daughter's car seat, while Jake was walking with free hands at a distance.
Jake faced immense flak, with many accusing him of neglecting his parenting duties and leaving his wife to bear the burden. After that, Millie defended her "sweet" husband in an episode of Kyle Kelce's Not Gonna Lie podcast. She slammed the critics, saying she and any other woman could handle their own stuff and didn't need their man to do everything for them.
Millie clarified that Jake was almost three miles away from her in the viral clip and she planned to do things on her own. The Enola Holmes star defended Jake against allegations of not being a hands-on parent and stated:
"Hi, I'm Millie Bobbie Brown, and I'm not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats, and stuff? This stems from me holding all of my suitcases and bags and my kid, and people are like, 'Your husband doesn't hold a single thing.' Because I'm three miles ahead. I have been planning this all night."

Millie Bobby Brown added that women were taught empowerment and self-reliance, while at the same time they were criticized for doing things without their partner's help. She asked internet trolls not to spread falsehoods about her husband and called him the "most polite" person, always ready to do anything for her. In her words:
"We're all about empowering girls and 'You got it' and 'You don't need a man.' But then when I'm like, 'OK, I can carry my own things,' people are like, 'Where's your husband?' I can also do it on my own. Nobody knows my husband. My husband is the most polite, sweet, will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I'm capable."
