Will There Be 'Michael' Sequel After Hit Film? Know Why Michael Jackson's Daughter Stayed Away

The 'King of Pop', Michael Jackson, was one of the world's most famous singers. From his moonwalk to his countless surgeries to his extraordinary life, Michael Jackson has made a name that no one can ever try to copy. His magic was again felt after a film, Michael was released worldwide. Another highlight of the film was his nephew portraying the role of 'Michael Jackson' due to his uncanny resemblance to the legend.

Amidst it, Michael Jackson's countless fans are already itching for another movie as they just cannot get over the legendary singer's glamorous life. So, let's read on to find out whether a sequel to Michael Jackson's film is in the works.'

Will Michael Jackson's film, Michael, have a sequel?

During the premiere of Michael Jackson's film, Michael, Adam Fogelson, revealed that they have prepared for the second part, and if the audience wants the second part of the film, they are ready for more. He added that they might get the second part released sooner rather than later. He said:

"We absolutely have more story to tell. We have prepared for that moment. And if the audience reinforces that they’re ready for more, we’re prepared to give it to them sooner rather than later."

However, it is worth mentioning that Lionsgate has not confirmed whether there will be a second part of the film or not. But the answer was in the credits of the film, Michael. As the credits begin to roll, a title card reveals that says, "His Story Continues." Hence, it is a confirmation that the film will have another part. 

A report by The Hollywood Reporter claims that the 'credit note' was added as a last-minute addition to the movie. The filmmakers and producers got the idea about the success of the movie at the box office. However, a script had not yet been written. Currently, discussions are in talks. A report by Variety also claimed that if the biopic grosses USD 700 million worldwide, then Lionsgate would plan for the second part of the film. 

Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson, chose to stay away from the film's release and promotions

For the unversed, Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson, was never in support of the film. She even took to her Instagram handle and stated that she was supportive of or involved with the release of the film. She further added that she had given her feedback and also highlighted the dishonest elements, but when she was ignored, she chose to walk away. 

Not only this, but Paris also accused co-executors, John Branca and John McClain of misusing funds to finance the botched production. She also wasn't happy with the casting choices and the reshoot costs. However, the estate's lawyers dismissed her claims and stated that she was just seeking attention. 

Apart from Paris Jackson, Michael Jackson's sister, Janet Jackson, also chose to stay away from the release of the film. Also, she wasn't even part of the film and never even talked about it in any interview. According to La Toya Jackson, the musician was absent from the new movie because she kindly declined it.

"She was asked and she kindly declined. So you have to respect her wishes."
