Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been grabbing everyone's attention despite their efforts to lead a private life. The media has continued to monitor every step of the couple even after they stepped down as Senior Royals and shifted bases to America. And now, with reports that they have decided to move back to the UK with their kids, Archie and Lilibet, the family is once again in the headlines. Amid the news of their return, a source has shared some inside tea on why staffing Meghan's Montecito mansion became a tough task.

Megan Markle's 'snobbish' behavior made it impossible to hire house help

According to a report by Page Six, Megan Markle had some trouble staffing her Montecito mansion with housekeepers before the family decided to move back to the United Kingdom. A source told the publication that several housekeepers in Montecito refused to work for Prince Harry and Meghan. The source revealed that the reason behind this was that she would come across as "snobbish and rude". The source was quoted as saying:

"She had trouble hiring maids because a lot of the housekeepers in Montecito didn't want to work for them. Meghan would interview people herself and could come across as really snobbish and rude. Some of them were so offended by the way she spoke to them that word started getting around."

The source further revealed that the Duchess of Sussex allegedly has a reputation among local housekeepers, and it eventually became a kind of running joke around the ritzy California enclave. For the unversed, the publication previously reported that in June 2025, four staffers left Markle and Prince Harry's team. The source reflected on that and said:

"It got to the point where people would joke that all the maids in Montecito hated them."

However, their issue doesn't end with housekeepers alone; even Kyle Boulia, the couple's Los Angeles-based deputy press secretary, and Charlie Gipson, their UK press officer, quietly left their positions after the couple took on new advisers. Apart from that, a source has confirmed that two members of their team have resigned from their roles in recent weeks.

During Meghan's time as a working royal in the UK, she was accused of bullying by palace aides, prompting the Palace to launch an investigation. While the findings were never released, Meghan Markle has vehemently denied the claims.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Montecito neighbor is happy about their return to the UK

Amid their return to the UK, reports have also been rife that the neighbors of Meghan and Prince Harry's Santa Barbara County community home are ready for a little more peace and quiet amid news that they are moving back. A resident spoke with the publication and said:

"When we first heard Harry and Meghan were moving to Montecito, there were definitely some concerns. There had already been so much negative press and attention surrounding them and the royal family, and I think people worried about what kind of spotlight that could bring to such a quiet community. Montecito is a very private, peaceful place, and I think a lot of people here will be happy to see things go back to being a little quieter"

While Montecito is home to several high-profile residents, including Oprah Winfrey and Rob Lowe, an anonymous resident has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle brought an unusual level of press and media attention to the normally quiet community. For the uninitiated, Prince Harry and Meghan plan to return to the UK with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, by the end of August 2026 for an "extended period."

However, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are expected to remain "non-working members" of the royal family and will continue pursuing their business ventures while living in Britain. The return has already created an immense buzz, with people wondering what this shift will mean for the royal family.
