Mishel Gerzig has been active as a model for a long time
Mishel Gerzig started pursuing her journey in the modelling world when she was 13 years old. She has collaborated with agencies like ITM and NEXT throughout her career. Mishel is Jewish, and she performs a traditional Kiddush blessing with Thibaut before Shabbat, which refers to the weekly day of rest in Judaism.
For the unversed, Mishel also served in the Israel Defense Forces in the past. She once said in an interview that she had panic attacks after she served in the IDF as a commander of a search and rescue ship. She recalled her experience by saying:
“It’s a very intense role - physically and mentally, with a lot of responsibilities of commitment. I felt like it fulfilled me. When I got discharged, I debated where to sign up for one more year. But my draft had put a pause in my modelling career, in which I invested all my efforts from the age of 13, ending contracts that I worked on for years.”
Mishel Gerzig specifically expressed gratitude to her parents, saying that she was able to get some experience in the modelling field. She said that after she left the IDF, she felt empty and insignificant, which was followed by some health issues, such as breathing problems, numbness in her body, rapid pulse, and eyes going black.
Mishel later started undergoing treatment for her panic attack. However, she opted for other coping methods instead of depending on the medicines. She said:
“I went on with my work, I didn’t give up. I learned to practice breathing and talk to myself in front of the mirror through affirmations.”
Thibaut Courtois and Mishel Gerzig tied the knot three years ago
Although it remains unknown when they first met, Mishel Gerzig revealed in an interview that she and Thibaut Courtois met on Instagram. Notably, Thibauly commented on a picture that she shared on the platform, and they started having a conversation with each other. The duo eventually met in Madrid in April 2021, and the relationship turned romantic by July 2021.
Thibault made the romance official in August 2021, and the pair got engaged in June 2022 after Thibault popped the question to Mishel on a boat in Italy. The couple exchanged vows in France in June 2023. They organised a big wedding ceremony, which also featured live performances. The pair’s first child, a daughter named Ellie, was born in March 2024.
Thibault is a father of two more children from a past relationship. Before the duo’s marriage, Mishel said in an interview:
“I entered a special relationship in which my partner has two kids from a previous one - a girl, 7, and a boy, 5. They’re very sweet, they’ve accepted me, we’re a family and it’s really heartwarming. They see me as their friend and I like it that way.”
