"By 2009, my husband convinced me that fear wasn’t a good enough reason to not have a child. I’m so glad he changed my mind. I have no doubt I’m not only a better person, but also a better journalist because I joined the parent tribe. Soon I was pregnant and Babycakes arrived in 2010. The following year, my husband’s job moved to Los Angeles. For seven months, he was flying to L.A. every week and it started when our daughter was six months old."

Further, during the same interview, when Stephanie Elam was asked on how she manages her hectic schedule and her daughter, she revealed that it all happens because of her husband and a nanny. She said, "There’s no way I could do my job without a supportive, flexible husband and a fantastic nanny. Luckily, I have both! My husband was meant to be a father. He’s so patient and loving yet doesn’t have any qualms about handling the dirty work that comes with being a parent."

She was quoted as saying:

"For more than 20 years, I’ve been in the CNN orbit developing and delivering news stories on everything from the environment and entertainment to business and breaking news of all kinds. I’m so proud of my CNN career. Live or taped, writing packages or doing a show-and-tell, I’ve done it all, and having a front row seat to document history has been a gift."

Later, her co-employees from CNN had a conversation with Variety, in which they praised her and her sense of news. They also appreciated her versatility and ability to "connect with audiences", which made her one of the most trusted journalists of recent times. They concluded by sharing, "we are grateful for her many contributions and wish her continued success in her next chapter."

Talking about Stephanie Elam, she graduated from Howard University in 1995 with a degree in broadcast journalism and soon took a job as a financial news copy editor. In the next few years, she switched companies a few times, only to shine brighter. During an interview, she shared that in 2001, her office was right across World Trade Center in New York. She revealed that she was at the window of the 28th floor of her office, when 'another jet slammed into the other trade center tower, forcing big chunks of debris to fly toward our building'.
