Who is Shane Richie's ex-wife, Coleen Nolan?
Coleen Nolan was born on March 12, 1965, in Blackpool, England, UK. She is an English-Irish singer, television personality and author. She is also an actress and starred in the TV series, Steal and Brookside, and she featured in the music video, The Nolans: I'm in the Mood for Dancing.
Coleen is best known for being a regular panellist of the show, Loose Women. She also appeared on the show, Celebrity Big Brother and finished as runner-up. Reportedly, at the age of nine, Coleen made her first television appearance with her sisters as The Nolans appeared on the TV series, It’s Cliff Richard!
According to the latest reports, Coleen is bringing her own personal show, This is Me, to London. She rose to fame with the family group The Nolans, which also included her sisters Linda, Maureen, Bernie, Denise and Anne. In a recent interview with The Irish World, Coleen opened up about the show. She said:
"I just thought it would be so much fun to go out and actually meet the fans, the viewers of Loose Women and everything else I’ve done. It feels just more like a connection to them. And there’s no one editing it. It’s all very open and honest. I like to meet people before and after the show for autographs and pictures. I just love meeting them, and I’m so grateful for people that come and see it. It would have been very easy for me to just sit on a stool for an hour and a half and whitter on about my life, but I wanted to make it more."
Inside Shane Richie and Coleen Nolan's tumultuous marriage
Coleen Nolan has been very unlucky whenever the subject is love. Over the years, she had a fair share of ups and downs in her love life. However, it was her marriage to Shane Richie that stole the spotlight. It is worth mentioning that back in the 90s, Shane and Coleen were one of the most loved couples of the entertainment world. They crossed paths in 1986 and planned to have a grand wedding ceremony in 1990. But they eloped to Florida at the last minute when their plans spiraled out of control.
During their marriage, Coleen and Shane welcomed two sons, Jake Roache and Shane Jr Nolan. However, in 1997 the duo parted ways. Eventually, both Coleen and Shane admitted to having affairs outside of their marriage. In her 2009 autobiography, Coleen shared that she first became suspicious of Shane during his time on stage in Manchester for a production of Grease. At the after-show party, she spotted a woman who had an affair with her then-husband, Shane. She wrote:
"At the after-show party I can distinctly remember examining this one girl. There were loads of people there, but she just stood out. She had really long dark hair and was wearing a skin-tight white dress. Well, it must have been female intuition because that turned out to be the girl Shane had an affair with."
In an alleged phone call recording, Coleen discovered Shane’s affair with another woman during their marriage. In fact, later Shane also admitted to drinking and infidelity. He admitted cheating with actress Claire Tyler, and told The Guardian there was 'no excuse' for his behavior. In her autobiography, Upfront and Personal, Collen wrote:
"While Shane was abroad, I worked out that there were 33 calls all recorded on the computer's hard drive. Curious, I scanned through them. In one of the calls, Shane said, 'Hello princess.' For a second I relaxed. Shane always called me that, so I just assumed he was talking to me. But his next sentence confused me. 'Are you in between shows? What time do you finish? I'll try and come round.' What show? I hadn't been in a show for ages. I could only hear what Shane was saying, but there was no way he was talking to me."
