Rupert Murdoch is one of the most well-known business tycoons, investors, and conservative media owners in America. In his personal life, Rupert is the father of six children: Prudence, Elisabeth, Lachlan, James, Grace, and Chloe. Currently, Rupert and his children have been hogging the spotlight with their four-part docuseries, Dynasty: The Murdochs, which started streaming exclusively on Netflix on March 13, 2026.
For those unaware, Dynasty: The Murdochs follows the Murdoch family's behind-the-scenes succession battle, with Rupert's six children trying to gain control over his media empire. From interviews with journalists to private conversations between the feeding family, never before seen on TV, Dynasty: The Murdochs features it all. Well, with renewed interest in Rupert Murdoch's children and many wanting to learn more about them, here's everything we know about the six siblings.

Rupert Murdoch welcomed his first child, Prudence “Pure” Murdoch, with his first wife, Patricia Booker, in August 1958. She was reportedly born in Adelaide, Australia and raised away from the spotlight. In her professional life and early in her career, Prudence worked at News of the World. An expert from the book, The Man Who Owns the News: Inside the Secret World of Rupert Murdoch, claimed that the tabloid newspaper was also owned by her father, Rupert.

If reports are to be believed, Prudence and Rupert did not have the best of relationships and have a history of discord. According to the aforementioned book, in a press conference that Rupert Murdoch delivered in 1997, he only referenced his “three children”, leaving out Prudence. Well, in one of her very few public interviews, she even admitted to screaming at her dad. Later, Prudence reportedly recalled that he “then sent the biggest bunch of flowers — it was bigger than a sofa — and two clementine trees.”

In her personal life, Prudence has been married twice. In 1986, she tied the knot with Crispin Odey, a London-based hedge fund manager. After their marriage, which reportedly lasted only a year, Prudence married Alasdair MacLeod in 1989. Together, the duo welcomed three children: James, Angus, and Clementine.

Rupert Murdoch welcomed his second daughter, Elisabeth “Liz” Murdoch, with his second wife, Anna Trov, on August 22, 1968. After spending her childhood in New York, she went on to attend Vassar College, according to The Man Who Owns the News. Post-graduation, Elisabeth delved into the media world, like her father and sister. Back in 2001, Elisabeth launched an independent television company called Shine, which has produced a number of reality shows like MasterChef. According to Variety, a decade later, Rupert Murdoch's News Corp bought Shine in a whopping USD 674 million deal.

While she did join the board of News Corp, Elisabeth soon left in 2019. She revealed the reason during a conversation with The New Yorker, claiming that each time she “tried to work in his company, he wasn't impressed.” She then launched the company, Sister, which has produced hits like HBO's Chernobyl and BBC's Broadchurch. In her personal life, Elisabeth has been married thrice and has four children, Cornelia, Anna, Charlotte, and Samson. Her first marriage was to Elkin Pianim, second to Matthew Freud, and third to Keith Tyson.
Lachlan Murdoch was born to Rupert and Anna on September 8, 1971. He was raised in New York and attended Princeton University, where he studied Philosophy. Having worked for his father since the early days of his career, Lachlan has managed several newspapers across the US and Australia. Later, in 2000, Lachlan became the deputy chief operating officer at News Corporation.

Among his siblings, Lachlan was announced as Rupert's successor in 2003 and addressing his father in a press release, he thanked his father “for his vision and his pioneering spirit, his steadfast determination, the enduring legacy he leaves at the companies he founded, and countless people he has impacted. While Lachlan did launch his own company, Illyria Pty, two years later, he soon returned to his family's media business and served as a non-executive co-chairman of News Corp and 21st Century Fox. Lachlan married an Australian model named Sarah O'Hare in 1998, and together they welcomed three children, Kalan, Aidan, and Aerin.

Rupert and Anna's third child, James Murdoch, was born on December 13, 1972. Raised in NYC, he briefly attended Harvard University before dropping out of his program. Following this, James went on to launch his own hip-hop label in 1995 called Rawkus Records. Many famous artists, such as Eminem and Mos Def, joined the label's roster. In 1998, the label was acquired by News Corp, where James continued to work for the company for many years.
Later, in 2015, James became the CEO of 21st Century Fox. Five years later, he resigned from New Corp, citing disagreements over editorial content, among other issues. In his personal life, James is married to Kathryn Hufschmid and has three children — Anneka, Emerson, and Walter.
Rupert welcomed his daughter, Grace Murdoch, with his third wife, Wendi Deng, on November 19, 2001. Like her siblings, she was also raised in New York City. Grace reportedly attended The Brearley School on the Upper East Side. After graduating in June 2020, she went on to attend Yale University. Grace has a seemingly warm relationship with her father, Rupert. This is evidenced by her Instagram post on Rupert's 90th birthday, in which she wrote, “I am so lucky to be your daughter.” She even called him her favourite person.

Rupert and Wendi became parents to their daughter, Chloe Murdoch, on July 17, 2003. Growing up in NYC, she first graduated from Brearley School and later studied at Stanford University. It is worth noting that, unlike her parents, who are always in the spotlight, Chloe leads a rather private life.
