Rachel Weisz grew up in Hampstead Garden Suburb, North London. While the actress’ father, George, was an inventor, her mother, Ruth, was a psychotherapist. Back in 2015, Rachel said that she had traveled to places like Austria and Hungary. She revealed that she is also fluent in French. Rachel was a student at Cambridge University when she slowly launched her career in the entertainment industry. She was the co-founder of a drama group, Talking Tongues, at the institute, which also received a Guardian Award at the Edinburgh Festival.

This was followed by some TV shows where she played small roles, including Inspector Morse, Tropical Heat, and Scarlet and Black. In 1994, she was featured in a short film, Seventeen. This was followed by two more shows, Screen Two and This Is Not an Exit: The Fictional World of Bret Easton Ellis. Rachel then appeared in another television movie, My Summer with Des, in 2000, following which she took a break from the small screen for ten years.

In 1994, Rachel Weisz was seen in Death Machine, her first film to be released in theatres. While the film was unsuccessful, Rachel was continuously cast in other films, including Chain Reaction, Stealing Beauty, Going All the Way, and more. Rachel was also a lead in the 1997 drama film, Swept from the Sea, where she shared the screen with actors such as Vincent Perez and Ian McKellen. In 1998, she appeared in two more films, I Want You and The Land Girls.

Released in 1999, The Mummy had Brendan Fraser in the lead alongside Arnold Vosloo portraying the antagonist, 'Imhotep.' Rachel played 'Evelyn Carnahan,' who approaches Brendan’s character, 'Rick O’Connell,' to find the City of the Dead, also called Hamunaptra. The film was successful at the box office. Rachel reprised her role in the 2001 sequel, The Mummy Returns. However, she did not return in the third entry, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

Furthermore, she shared the screen with Keanu Reeves as 'Angela Dodson' in Francis Lawrence’s film, Constantine, released in 2006.
