Who is Pritam and Pedro actor, Vir Hirani?
Vir Hirani hails from a well-known family and was born in Mumbai. His father is the renowned filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani, best known for his films Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Lage Raho Munna Bhai, 3 Idiots, PK, Sanju, and Dunki, and his mother, Manjeet Hirani, is an Air India pilot. Vir graduated in 2023 with a BA in Acting (H Level) at Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), London. He made his first on-screen appearance as a child artist in the classic film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.
Vir and Arshad Warsi's chemistry in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. as 'Short Circuit' and 'Circuit' won many hearts. For the uninitiated, Vir played Arshad’s son in the classic film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. Besides acting, Vir has a passion for filmmaking as well. At the age of 14, Vir wrote and directed a short film, Return Gift. He also worked behind-the-scenes as a cinematographer and assistant director on projects, including Sanju. He rose to fame with the newly released series, Pritam and Pedro. It was Vir’s OTT debut.
Vir Hirani had to go through the audition process for Pritam and Pedro
Unlike star kids, Vir’s OTT debut was not that easy. The series was directed by Avinash Arun and was created and produced by Vir’s father and renowned filmmaker, Rajkumar Hirani. Just like other actors, Vir also went through the same audition process rather than an automatic casting call. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Rajkumar Hirani shared that when they started writing, neither Arshad nor Vir was on the radar. He also recalled the conversation with his son, Vir, who expressed to give an audition for the role of 'Pritam'. Rajkumar was quoted as saying:
"When we started writing, neither Arshad nor Vir was on the radar. I told him, 'If you want to audition for it, do it. Meet Avinash Arun. Convince him because he's directing it. I can't impose myself. Even if it's my film, you have to audition. Don't think you're going to get it just because you're my son.'"
In a recent interview with ANI, Arshad Warsi lauded Vir Hirani for his acting skills. Arshad also opened up about Vir’s first film, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., in which he shared screen space with him. Arshad also spoke about nepotism. He was quoted as saying:
"It is Vir's beginning, and according to that, he has done a very good job. Veer is inherently, his nature, his upbringing, he is such a good kid, that he listens, and works hard. All those things that are required for a person to become a good actor, all those qualities are there in him. In his first film, he did a very good job. From here, I can only see him rising, and he will keep getting better. In my opinion, if Rajkumar Hirani is Vir's father, then what is Vir's fault? He didn't do anything wrong. So I think it is not right to put that load on the kids."
