The finale of Season 2 displayed a tribute to someone named Phyllis Gilliam. The tribute reads that she was born on January 26, 1956, and passed away on March 23, 2026. Netizens have been eager to find everything about Gilliam ever since they saw the episode. Keep reading to know more!

Phyllis Gilliam’s obituary on Dignity Memorial revealed that she was active as a costume designer and costume supervisor on television for a long time. The obituary also reads that she arrived in Los Angeles during the ‘80s and was working in the costume department for almost 30 years. Notably, she had the opportunity of being involved with shows such as Agent Carter, Just Shoot Me!, and more.

Phyllis Gilliam was born to a family of eight children

The obituary revealed the names of Phyllis Gilliam’s parents as Robert and Mozelle. Notably, the pair had eight children, which included a son and seven daughters. Phyllis Gilliam developed an interest in costume design when she joined Xavier University, pursuing her graduation. Phyllis later joined the University of Houston, acquiring her Master’s degree. She completed her primary education at St. James Major Catholic School and McGill-Toolen High School.

Before her death, Phyllis Gilliam was married to Murray Gilliam, who served in the US Marine Corps. Murray was also a personal trainer at the same time. The duo reportedly met in Los Angeles and tied the knot in 1997. The pair’s first child, Robert, was born in the same year. The couple later became the parents of another child, Susan, in 2000.

Phyllis Gilliam battled with cancer before her sudden demise

As per the tribute displayed on Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Phyllis Gilliam passed away in March 2026. Two years before her death, Murray was diagnosed with cancer in 2024. It was in the fourth stage at that time, and he received a lot of support from Phyllis Gilliam during this period. However, Murray died in January 2026. Phyllis was then hospitalised in March 2026, leading to her death.

A GoFundMe page has also been launched to help Phyllis and Murray’s children. The fundraiser revealed that the former’s health took a worse turn despite undergoing chemotherapy and radiation therapy. Her cancer diagnosis was revealed in September 2025, and it started spreading to her lungs, spine, and brain at one point. The GoFundMe description stated that Robert and Susan are going to face the financial and legal issues that have emerged after their parents’ deaths. The fundraiser also reads:

“The funds from this fundraiser will go towards funeral costs, covering debts left in the wake of their parents’ deaths, funding legal assistance in the coming months, and providing overall economic and mental stability for the two children faced with such an unimaginable loss.”
