Amid Will’s absence from the Oscars 2026, let us introduce you to his beloved wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Jada Pinkett, who is widely known as the wife of American actor, Will Smith, was born in 1971 in Baltimore, Maryland. Her father is of African-American descent, and her mother is of Afro-Caribbean descent. By profession, Jada is an actress, talk show host and businesswoman. "I nearly didn’t even attend the Oscars that year, but I’m glad I did. I call it the 'holy slap' now because so many positive things came after it. That moment of the s--- hitting the fan is when you see where you really are. After all those years trying to figure out if I would leave Will’s side, it took that slap for me to see I will never leave him."
In a 2023 interview on the Today show, Jada revealed that she and her husband, Will Smith, lived separately for seven years. She mentioned that it wasn’t a divorce on paper, but by 2016, the couple got exhausted for trying to work out things. Thus, they decided to stay separately. Jada added that earlier she had made a promise to Will that they would never get divorced and would work out things, and she couldn’t break the promise.

In a 2020 interview with E! News, Jada Pinkett Smith got candid about motherhood. Jada shared that initially, she thought she was sacrificing a lot. But with time, she understood the real meaning of motherhood. She mentioned that parenting is often difficult and teaches a person to be selfless. She was quoted as saying:
"Motherhood will teach you everything about yourself, in my opinion. One of the biggest things that I've learned is, like, I went through this period where I was just like, 'Oh my god! I'm sacrificing so much!' A lot of times, our parenting choices aren't easy…and a lot of times they have to be really selfless, you know? And I just realised that in my motherhood, every step of the way, my kids were giving me the opportunity to be the woman that I really wanted to be—not the fantasy, ideal Jada."
