Who was Shri Neeb Karori Baba?
Shri Neeb Karori Baba, also known as Baba Neeb Karori Maharaj, was born to a wealthy zamindar family that resided in the village of Akbarpur in Uttar Pradesh. During his early years, Baba’s mother, Smt. Kausalya Devi left for the heavenly abode. At the time, Baba was 8 or 9 years old. Later, at the age of 11, Baba got married to a woman named ShubhshriRam Beti, a resident of the village Badam Baas. After a year of his marriage, Baba left his home at the age of twelve and returned after a gap of 10 to 12 years.
Neeb Karori Baba was famous for his leelas and emotionally charged speeches. There have been plenty of Baba’s leelas which make people often wonder who he was and from where he came. After spending some time in Rajasthan and Gujarat’s Rajkot, Baba went to Neeb Karori village in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh. During his time in the Neeb Karori village, Baba developed a friendly association with the younger people of his age group and often participated in their sports. He used to play hide-and-seek and could quickly locate any one of them.
But whenever it was Baba’s turn to hide, he became invisible and was not to be found anywhere. On another occasion, Baba was travelling to Farrukhabad from Neeb Karori village in the first-class compartment of a train. Seeing his sadhu-like look, an Anglo-Indian conductor told Maharaj ji to get off the train at the next station. Baba got down and took a seat on the platform. But the train stopped, and despite all efforts of the station staff, the train did not move. Later, it was believed that it was Baba’s leelas behind it.
