Meet Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Wife, Tasha McCauley, Met The Actor Via A Mutual Friend, Is A Scientist

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is one of the most beloved actors in Hollywood. Many might not be aware, but he started his acting career at the very young age of 6 in the late ‘90s. Some of the films he appeared in as a child include A River Runs Through It (1992), Angels in the Outfield (1994), and Holy Matrimony (1994). He started gaining fame when he appeared on the award-winning television show, 3rd Rock from the Sun, which aired from 1996 to 2001. As a teenager, Joseph played the role of ‘Cameron James', a fan-favourite character in the rom-com, 10 Things I Hate About You. Later, Joseph Gordon-Levitt temporarily stepped away from acting to continue his studies at Columbia University in New York.

However, in 2004, he changed his mind and dropped out of university, and soon returned to the movie screens. At the time, Joseph acted in a number of hit films, including G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009), Inception (2010), and The Dark Knight Rises (2012). Unfortunately, following the death of his older brother, Dan Gordon-Levitt, the actor has taken a step back from mainstream projects to focus on his family life. After quite a while, Joseph is set to make his comeback in 2026 with his new collaboration with Netflix for an untitled AI thriller starring Rachel McAdams. With his professional life hogging the limelight, let's take a look at Joseph Gordon-Levitt's relationship with his wife, Tasha McCauley, who has quietly been supporting the actor behind the scenes.

Although Joseph Gordon-Levitt's life has been in the spotlight since a very young age, the actor has kept his personal life private. This is especially true for his romance with his wife, Tasha McCauley. However, it was during a 2013 appearance on The Howard Stern Show that Joseph spilt he was seeing someone outside the glamour world. He went on to explain that he was first introduced to Tasha McCauley by a mutual friend, although he did not mention her by name. In his words: 

"I have a girlfriend, but I tend not to really like to talk about it in public. The girl that I'm with, she really doesn't want to be a part of that."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt did not keep his then-girlfriend, Tasha McCauley, waiting before making things official by marrying her. It was only one year after the actor admitted that he was in a relationship that he tied the knot with his wife in 2014. Although the (500) Days of Summer star's fans were eagerly looking forward to seeing his wedding pictures, he did not share any photos or additional details from his big day. Later, People was the first to report that the couple chose their Los Angeles home as the destination of their December 20, 2014, wedding. Apparently, Joseph and Tasha kept their ceremony an intimate affair.

One year after Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tasha McCauley tied the knot, the couple welcomed their first child, a son, in August 2015. In June 2017, they celebrated the birth of their second son. They expanded their family once again in 2022 after Tasha gave birth to their daughter. It is worth mentioning that the pair have kept their children's names and photos private. In 2015, when Joseph made an appearance on Live with Kelly and Michael, he said that he wants his kids to decide for themselves whether they want to be in the spotlight. Giving the example of his son, Joseph said: 

"My son...he hasn't made the choice to be in the public eye, and that's a choice that I would like him to be able to make when he's older, when he can think about these kinds of things and make that decision for himself. So, for now, I'm just a protective dad, and I want to protect his privacy."

According to People, Tasha's now-deleted LinkedIn revealed that she completed her Bachelor's degree from Bard College in 2004. Following this, she went on to do her graduation in robotics from Singularity University. Tasha also joined the university later as a teaching fellow in robotics and AI. According to areport by CBS News, Joseph's wife earned her Master's degree in 2014 from the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. 

Tasha decided to work in the technology and space industries ever since she was at Singularity University, where she co-founded a Silicon Valley-based robotics company, Fellow Robots. She has also worked at other companies after this; however, Tasha currently appears to be working as an adjunct senior management scientist at the RAND Corporation after her marriage to Joseph Gordon-Levitt, per The New York Times.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has always respected Tasha's desire for privacy and for living a life outside the spotlight. Despite this, she did not miss the rare opportunity to appear alongside her husband at Seth Rogen's Hilarity for Charity Variety Show. The event was held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles in October 2016, just a few weeks before Halloween. This is why, during their duet onstage, Joseph and Tasha donned bl**died costumes. After their performance, the duo was also caught sharing a sweet kiss.
