Who is Shalaka Makeshwar?

Shalaka Makeshwar is a renowned IT professional and is now the wife of RCB star Jitesh Sharma. She is a senior engineer in Nagpur. Shalaka reportedly studied a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering at Ram Meghe College of Engineering and Management. Following her qualification, she pursued higher education in VLSI design, which has provided her with a strong academic foundation in the tech field. 

On the work front, she is a software test engineer at companies such as GlobalLogic and Advent Software. Although her husband is now a famous cricketer, she has largely kept herself away from the spotlight. Jitesh and Shalaka both lead grounded, private lives. However, she is often seen in stands supporting her husband. When Jitesh transitioned from domestic cricket to IPL, and again from Punjab Kings to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, she was a constant support system for him. Before beginning his stint with the Bangalore franchise, he told Shalaka that he wanted to win the title for Virat and later said:

"After 18 years with one franchise, his emotions were pure and understandable. I told my wife that if I could make even a small difference in his life, I'd be grateful. It felt like it was written by God for him".

Jitesh Sharma and Shalaka Makeshwar's love story has been about patience and strong support. There is no clear information about how they first met, but they dated for several years before getting married in 2024. The couple tied the knot on August 8, 2024, i.e., "8.8.8". Jitesh and Shalaka had a private traditional Maharashtrian wedding ceremony, with some of his team members in attendance,. Fans admired the simplicity of their wedding, distinct from extravagant celebrity weddings. 

Throughout these years, Shalaka Makeshwar has been a strong pillar of support in Jitesh's life, especially during his career struggles. She stood by him when he gave inconsistent performances in the IPL or was snubbed from national team selection.

Meanwhile, Jitesh Sharma is back on the field for IPL's 2026 edition. He was retained by the team for INR 11 crore ahead of IPL 2026. The 32-year-old is again the vice captain of the team under his friend, Rajat Patidar, who is captaining the team. Although he had a strong start to the season with impressive scores in practice sessions, he has scored just 15 runs in 4 matches so far, at a strike rate of 83.33 (much lower than his career average of 155+). In fact, he scored 0 runs in two matches but took impeccable catches with the gloves. So, fans are still waiting to witness his blistering batting in IPL 2026.
