Meet 'Daredevil: Born Again' Season 2 Star, Charlie Cox's Wife, Samantha Thomas, A Marvel Producer

Charlie Cox is a renowned English-American actor. His acting career began at the age of 18 when he was cast in the 2003 psychological thriller, Dot the I. During the early days of his career, Charlie Cox mostly appeared in guest spots on television as well as in supporting roles in movies like the historical drama, Casanova (2005) and the BBC sci-fi film, A for Andromeda (2006). He soon rose to fame in 2007 when he landed the role of the main protagonist, 'Tristan Thorn', in the movie, Stardust.  

Since then, Charlie has appeared in projects such as Boardwalk Empire, The Theory of Everything, Stone of Destiny, There Be Dragons, and Moby-Dick, to name a few. Despite his extensive filmography, Charlie is best known for his work in the Marvel series, Daredevil. His performance as ‘Matt Murdock' not only earned him praise from fans but also from critics. Currently, Charlie Cox is hogging the spotlight after appearing in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. To mention, off-screen, Charlie Cox is happily married to Samantha Thomas, with whom he shares two kids.  

Samantha Thomas is a well-known Marvel producer 

While Charlie Cox is best known for his work on screen, his wife, Samantha Thomas, is more comfortable and has established herself working behind the scenes. In fact, she has produced a number of Marvel hits such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Luke Cage, and Jessica Jones. On Jessica Jones, Samantha has actually worked as a co-executive producer. According to reports, one of her most recent works, in which she served as an executive producer, is the family drama, Kin. For those unaware, the Irish drama series came out in 2021, with her husband, Charlie Cox, playing the main lead, ‘Michael Kinsella.’ The second season of Kin followed in 2023.  

Samantha Thomas used to work at Marvel Television  

Samantha Thomas has not only produced some of the most well-known Marvel projects but she has also worked at the now-defunct Marvel Television. Here, Samatha served as the Vice President of Original Programming. She decided to leave the Marvel world in 2019 and went on to join Bron Studios as a consultant. For the unversed, this is the same production company behind Joker, Licorice Pizza, and Judas and the Black Messiah. To mention, Bron Studios filed for bankruptcy just a few years back, in 2023.  

Samantha Thomas is the President of Film and Television at The Traveling Picture Show Company 

As of March 2025, Samantha appears to have begun work as President of Film and Television at a production company. She announced the new role on LinkedIn, stating that she was “starting a new position as President, Film & Television at The Traveling Picture Show Company!” To note, the company is woman-owned and behind hit films like Sunrise, starring Guy Pearce, as well as American Murderer, starring Tom Pelphrey.  

Samantha Thomas and Charlie Cox welcomed their daughter one year after they started dating  

Over a decade ago, in 2015, Charlie Cox and Samantha started dating after they met while working together during the first season of Netflix's Daredevil. Just a year later, in 2016, the duo surprised fans by announcing that they were welcoming a baby. Reportedly, it was Charlie who shared the good news at a Fan Expo event in Canada. He said, “My girlfriend [was] pretty amused when I said I was going to Toronto a couple weeks before [the baby is due] by the way.” Talking to Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer, Joe Quesada, Charlie jokingly added, “And I went, So, keep your legs closed.” 

Well, just a month later, Charlie confirmed on a Marvel Facebook livestream that he and Samantha had welcomed their child. The couple named their bundle of joy, Elsie. Actor, Mile Colter whom you might recognise from Luke Cage, congratulated Charlie and called him a “proud new dad” to baby Elsie.  

Charlie Cox and Samantha Thomas tied the knot in a private ceremony, two years after their first child was born 

Two years after Samantha and Charlie welcomed their first kid, they got married in a private ceremony in 2018. Interestingly, at the time, both of them were still working for Marvel. In 2019, during a conversation with Vogue, the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 actor revealed that he and his family had settled in Tribeca. Part of his daily routine there included dropping off his then-3-year-old daughter, Elsie, at preschool. He also visited the Russian and Turkish baths every week. In 2020, Charlie and Samantha welcomed their second child, a son, whose name the couple have not yet publicly disclosed. However, most recently, Charlie did reveal how proud he feels “being a parent.” He said: 

"Sometimes with the challenges that come with being a father and a parent, being right-sized in a moment that's very challenging feels like a huge victory. I'm sorry if that's trite, but I think when you're able to be a good version of yourself, despite the fact that things are very difficult, and you're very tired and very overwhelmed, and all of those things, is a good victory.”
